New Coach

as soon as a President is in place then a search committee to fill the other spots should be formed - and not just those decisions like coaches and athletic administrators be the choice of just one person..

We are fortunate to have a lot of great people associated with Bradley who have poured their lives into Bradley and who would help make the right choice..
Chuck Buescher, Chuck Westendorf, Marcus Pollard, Dave Snell, Hersey Hawkins, Mitchell Anderson, Dick Versace, Billy Joe McDade, Joe Stowell, ex-Washington coach Steve Doty, Ray LaHood, and maybe choose a few long time BSS members and lifelong dedicated fans - and be careful not to pick anyone who was associated with the choices last time around.

I don't think it is a racial thing as much as it is the university being afraid to break from the past practices. If that makes any sense, which it probably doesn't.

Or some trying to stir things up by bringing race into it.

I like your idea and that would be quite a "WHO'S WHO" list of people to help pick a new athletic department

BU needs players who can compete in the MVC...

Hire someone with a track record of recruiting basketball players
at rebuilding jobs he has had in the past...

Jim Molinari saved Bradley after the Albeck era. Got to an NIT his 3rd and 4th years and an NCAA his 5th.

Then was 1 game away from the NCAA in year 4 at WIU and won a league title in year 5 at WIU.

Would like to ask Vent why he says the board wouldn't hire a black. Still think you are trying to stir things up. Don't just make a statement like that, tell us why.

I am a 100% believer that Jerrance Howard as coach and Chris Reynolds as AD would be terrific and would put us back on track as a super upper mid major program! My only concern is the Board of Trustees who have demonstrated an ability to screw up a2 car funeral.
Wiz

I would also give this guy a call and see if he'd be interested...
He is one of the top guys in the UW Athletic Dept.
Check him out - he's been a huge success everywhere he's been, and is an Illinois native.

but there are other great, energetic, capable candidates - and all one would have to do is call any of the successful schools or their athletic heads and ask for names...

the last time we selected an AD - we fired one before even beginning a search and placed Virnette House-Browning as interim AD.
Then when Dr. Cross was hired he promised Bradley would achieve "national distinction"...and Dr. Glasser said he was chosen "after an intensive nationwide search".
However there was never a mention locally of how the search was conducted but in one of the Illini articles it said we used Parker Search Firm..

I agree Wiz. Although there are a lot of good candidates for both positions, it would be nice to have people from the region, and those guys know the history of Bradley, even though they went to school elsewhere.

I wasn't trying to stir anything up. It was just a gut feeling. I regret expressing it. I have no inside information, as many other people have on this board, as I am not close to or affiliated with the university in any way. If I have offended you or others on this message board I apologize. That was not my intent.

You didn't offend me. Just wondered why you thought that was the case. 2 hires ago I think a trustee resigned, or threatened to I think, because his choice wasn't hired.

I have heard that the Board of Trustees are meeting tomorrow. Can anyone verify that rumor?
it is not a rumor - it s well established...
the full Board had scheduled meetings BOTH today & tomorrow

issues surrounding racially slanted questions and accusations did indeed cause one member to resign but he later apologized and recanted his prior statements.
It also caused multiple other head coaching candidates to withdraw their names from consideration well into the decision process.

There was a promise in last week's Scout that the Feb.6 edition would have more on the Board meetings and hiring situation & salary & budget information.

The last two hiring processes have been totally mishandled by the administration. I know of one person that personally went through the interview process. He stated how the new coach was pre determined when he went through his interview at Bradley and it was obvious during his interview. As he was arriving for his interview another candidate was leaving his interview and expressed the same sentiment in the hallway. At least one of the candidates that experienced the interview process, got even when they beat BU last Wednesday.

Lets hope when the next interview for a basketball coach at BU comes around, different people are involved with the decision making process. It was an embarrassment for BU and they've had just about enough of that lately.
