New BU commit Gustavo Guimarães

back to Grimaraes... I see the word "developmental" appear numerous times in Tweets and on message boards but whose description
is it, where did that term originate? Is there a clear-cut quote of our coaching staff using that word to describe any of the players?
Not that it's a big issue, but I can't recall any of our past players ever described with that term. Only the media and message boarders
seem to use the term.

I wonder where the word "developmental" came from. Is that an official classification of player as in - freshman, sophomore, walk-on, starter,
captain or "developmental player".
Where the term is used in the same discussion as Coach Wardle, it does not appear to be his quote or his way to describe his players? Don't we also want Wheeler, Zobrist, Richardson, Kai Yu, and even Meta to develop?

When it was used in connection with Jackson Seastrunk and Grimaraes, the word appears to just be Dave Eminian's description,
and not necessarily a quote. - LINK, altho Wardle was quoted as saying Seastrunk will redshirt.
I just re-listened to an interview of Wardle by Harry Schroeder and Wardle used the word develop as one of the purposes for Seastrunk to redshirt.

I know, but google the word "developmental" in the context of a recruit, or do a site search here-
BradleyFans' search engine searches all the way back to 2005, and the word "developmental" appears only 3 times in 20 years- and none
of those three times is in the context of a "developmental player".
Then since May 7, 2025 it appears is posts 12 times. Same with two other message boards that reference Bradley basketball, not used in years til now.
Like I said, I don't really care except - just asked the question out of interest to wonder why the term has instantly become so popular.

Here’s a tough trivia question

Bradley once before had THREE 7-FOOTERS, signed and/or on the roster at one time.
Can you name them?

Answer (and I changed the question to committed as well)
Bradley had a commitment from 7-0 Xavier Crawford in 2005 when they had 2 7-footers already, O’Bryant & Heemskerk.
Unfortunately Crawford did not qualify so spent a year at Prep school - then still didn’t qualify and went to Yuba College (juco) instead.

So it begins.....Bradley with three 7' players....👍👍👍👍
Wonder if this has ever happened in D1 before, any roster with three 7' players ?🫤...

I'm sure it has happened before. Not at Bradley, and probably not at any mid-major schools, but it has happened at a few high-major schools.
Here is Duke's roster from 2022-23. They actually had 4 seven-footers- https://goduke.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/2022-23
Dereck Lively- 7'1"
Christian Reeves- 7'1"
Kyle Filipowski- 7'0"
Stanley Borden- 7'0"

It's nice to hear we are still adding players to our roster even if they redshirt this year. I'm anxiously awaiting this season to see how good BU will be! I suppose it can go either way. I just hope it's the good way in that we are challenging for a MVC title!

Very surprised nobody mentioned this....Gustavo has the highest arc on his shot I've ever seen....watch the 1st video Da Coach post early in the🤔🤔🤔

Good catch, Mike! That is quite the rainbow shot he takes. Let's hope BW can work on that with him as it looked pretty ugly. Also looks like he likes to dribble a little too much for a guy his size! Definitely has a good inside presence and knows how to stand still with his arms straight up, which is big man 101 these days!

Lol..I'm pretty sure the shot you are referring to wasn't even taken by Gustavo...wasnt Gustavo guarding that guy?...Gustavo is #11 in White, right?....or am I wrong?

Gotcha...I thought you were referring to that rainmaker #32 in the dark uniform put up in the first video.....lefty rainmaker at that
You're right! I was looking at the wrong guy! That WAS the shot I was referring to. Thank goodness that wasn't him!

Another video from TikTok of Gustavo Guimarães from a couple years ago when he was playing with All Ball, a south Florida summer travel program. He looks like he has some good moves, and uses both his right hand and left hand around the basket.
If he can fully recover from his previous injury, I think we will look back on this late signing as the steal of the Century.
