NCAA Waives Transfer Penalty

All Dick Versace did was tell the truth about the NCAA, when Bradley didn't get the invite to the tournament. As for Bruce Pearl, all he did was tell the truth about an Illinois recruit.

Chico...you need a reminder of the facts:

Regardless of what Bruce Pearl may have claimed or told the NCAA, the full and seemingly endless investigation by the NCAA did NOT find anything to support the claims by Bruce Pearl.

In fact, here is an admission from an IOWA source saying exactly that:

"In the end, Berst held a press conference in which he pointedly said that the NCAA basically thought Illinois was guilty of serious improprieties but they could not be proved. He emphasized that they were not exonerating Illinois, just unable to obtain the necessary evidence to find Illinois guilty of major infractions.

NCAA Enforcement did manage to nail the Illini for minor infractions, censured the program, assigned minor penalties.....

In other words....the NCAA had to come up with something to justify its investigation and nailed Illinois on a few minor things, but never found any evidence to support Pearl's claims.
So it is still pure conjecture if Pearl was telling the truth or just playing the same game a lot of people play in this profession to try to get one up on the opponent.
It is widely believed that if you dig deep enough and hard enough into any program anywhere, you can find infractions similar to what they found at Illinois.

I agree with the end of your statemnet, even BU probably has broken some you'll inadvertantly. What irks me are when people like Kelvin Sampson obviously and openly violate rules and nothing happens.

Just because they couldn't prove it, doesn't mean the charges didn't happen. The Ilini as well as everybody else aren't perfect.

Every program has its heroes and villains. Tom Izzo has been a fierce competitor of IL for years and years, but the guy is all class and you would be hard pressed to find IL fans that just flat out dislike him. Pearl and Sampson, though equally competitive and somewhat successfull, have earned their place with Illini fans.
