NCAA tournaments canceled

The NCAA just announced it is canceling all of its men and women’s basketball tournaments.

With everything - everything that is going on - All of us Bradley Fans should at least be grateful that Bradley was crowned
2020 Missouri Valley Tournament Champions.
No school in the Big 10, Big East, power 5 conferences, all other unfinished
conference tournaments will name a conference tournament champion this year.

I am truly grateful that Bradley accomplished their championship before all sporting events were shut down.

I am looking forward to receiving out here in Colorado my Bradley 2020 MVC Championship T-shirts.... Both of them, a 2020, and a back to back Championship T-shirts. :D

I agree. I am thankful Bradley was able to win the conference before it may have been canceled. They cant take that away from them.

Just a stunning development. Feel sorry for all the players that won’t have a chance to play for a championship. Feel real sorry for the seniors who have played their last game. None of them deserve to have their careers end like this. Was hoping to see DB, Nate and Koch have a chance to play more than 1 more game. But since it seems like almost every sport is doing this it seems like this is the right thing to do.

Thanks for all the wonderful memories Darrell, Nate & Koch.

You were ALL instrumental in rebuilding Bradley Men’s Basketball and bringing it back.

You earned back-to-back conference tournament championships and took Bradley to the Big Dance for the first time in over 15 years.

My undying Thanks & gratitude !!!

Bradley men and our seniors are among the very few who end their season as true winners.

March Sadness.

But come on, you guys could've just.....delayed things and played them later. You know, classes go until June.

I do agree that the timetables and announcements were surprising. Very knee-jerk. As recently as 24 hours ago the decision was made to proceed but without fans. Just suspend and revisit in a few days when more is known and understood. It seems there is a commitment to making this as extreme a situation as possible.

As everyone has already mentioned, this is just a tough situation. As fans we all want to see our teams make it to the dance, but this is probably the right decision. I am glad I had the DVR set and taped the MVC championship game. I will be watching it a few times over the next few weeks and wondering what would have been.

Watching ESPN today, they floated an idea that made sense to me. All senior student athletes should get a 5th year next season as grad students above the standard 15 scholarship allotment. Schools that do not have the funding should get the scholarships paid by NCAA. So players like Bar, Brown and Kennell still get a shot at the Big Dance if so desired. Thoughts?

I heard that too Big Mike and agree with you totally. It sounds like a great idea! Why not give these seniors a chance to compete in the Big dance next year. I also think the NCAA should have waited this out awhile to see what was going to actually develop in the next few weeks.

Most of the universities in the St. Louis area have extended spring break by a week and have gone to all online classes

Why couldn't they do a modified version of the NCAA tournament? Like, rock paper scissors best of 3 tournament? You can even do it via web cams. It would have at least made entertaining TV and give the teams something fun to do and take our minds off the hysteria going on.

I'm just bummed.

Maybe this is the first legit application for eSports. Let DBrown represent Bradley on a 2K console.

No, please no. Sometimes life isn't fair, and this is one of those times. But the college record books would be full of asterisks if players (other than Sam Singh) were granted another year. DB would move higher on the all-time scoring list, as would Nate on the 3-point list. But is that fair? And what about players like Ari and Ville who look to step into starring roles next year? They would effectively be losing a year.

Like everyone, I'm really disappointed. But unless the tournament is somehow rescheduled later in spring or summer, which is doubtful, it just has to be this way.

Just heartbreaking for our players but especially the seniors. They built this program up from 5 wins to the championship level and did it the right way. Of course had all of this virus stuff happened just a week earlier, or if the MVC wasn't one of the first tournaments on the schedule, we would have been robbed of the incredible memories in St Louis. It was a privilege to have experienced the last week in BU Basketball -- the kind of experience few other fan bases will ever come close to enjoying. Let's make it a 3-peat next year!
