Some results from the first 2 days of the Las Vegas Summer League-

Friday 7/10 results-
Rienk Mast
started and played a game-high 32 minutes for the Indiana Pacers Las Vegas Summer League team last night, and he was the team's leading scorer and rebounder in their 99-93 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Rienk had a team-high 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Pacers. They start 1-0 in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Former Bradley guard Sean East II had 3 points in 8 minutes off the bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers
Box score- https://www.espn.com/nba-summer-league/boxscore/_/gameId/401881829/league/nba-summer-las-vegas
Former Bradley player Jayson Kent (also played with Indiana State and Texas), started for the Portland Trailblazers and had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and was the top +/- on the team (+10) in their 81-79 loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Other former MVC players-
Former Indiana State guard Ryan Conwell had 19 points for the Miami Heat in their 119-86 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Former Evansville and Illinois forward Ben Humrichouse had 9 points off the bench for the Brooklyn Nets, former Drake center Liam Robbins had 4 points for the NY Knicks and former UIC player Toby Okani had 4 points for the Knicks in the Nets 91-65 win over the Knicks.
Former Drake star Tucker DeVries is on the Boston Celtics roster, but did not play last night. Note that current Bradley player Kyle Grill's brother Caleb Grill (Iowa State, UNLV, Missouri), who was a Bradley recruiting target, is also on the Celtics roster and did not play. The Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 83-80. Former Indiana State guard Tyreke Key played for the Raptors and had 6 points off the bench.
Drake's Bennett Stirtz started and scored a team-high 18 points for the OKC Thunder in their 96-84 loss to the LA Lakers. Robbie Avila is on the Lakers, but he did not play.

And good news for Bulls fans... their 1st round draft pick, #4 overall, Caleb Wilson of North Carolina, played his first summer league game and set an NBA Summer League scoring record for a player's debut game with 35 points. He shot 12-21 overall and 7-11 from three. However, the Bulls lost 97-96 to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies were lead by the #3 overall draft pick Cameron Boozer with 23 points.
Caleb Wilson was playing his first competitive game since he broke his hand in a game on February 10 during his freshman season at North Carolina.
Former Illinois State (and Kentucky) guard Antonio Reeves is on the Bulls roster, but did not play in last night's game.

Thursday 7/9 results-
Malevy Leons
started and had 8 points and 8 rebounds in the Golden State Warriors' 101-90 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Other former MVC players-
Former Belmont big man Malik Dia had 6 points and 3 rebounds off the bench for the New Orleans Pelicans in the 105-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Former Belmont guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie had 12 points and 6 assists for the San Antonio Spurs in their 93-66 blowout loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

There are several former MVC players playing in games today, including the Indiana Pacers and Rienk Mast playing at 4:30 pm (CT) against the Philadelphia 76ers. That game is on Prime Video.
Saturday, 7/11 Scoreboard- https://www.espn.com/nba-summer-league/scoreboard

Robbie Avila might be injured- not playing much, but when he did play, he drew a little criticism for lack of athleticism.

and a couple more ex-MVC guys on Summer League rosters
UNI's Trey Campbell is with the T-Wolves, but did not play
Saint Thomas, who played in the MVC in 2021-22 for Loyola before they jumped to the A-10, started for the 76'ers but did not score
Jonathan Mogbo, who played in the MVC for Missouri State, started and had 12 pts for the Kings
Mitch Mascari, also with the Kings, had been playing off the bench but did not play vs the Clippers
Antonio Reeves is with the Summer League Bulls but did not play vs the Grizzlies

LIVE right now Warriors vs Thunder
Malevy Leons vs Bennett Stirtz...

it's on Prime network or a good link here ---> LINK

Warriors blow out the Thunder in the Summer League
104-79

Malevy played well. Didn't take a lot of shots- just 6 and a couple were desperation to beat the shot clock..
but his final stats- 9 pts, 11 reb, 2 asst in just 22 min
His 11 reb were most of anyone on either team, & if he had one more point, he'd have had the only double-double
He also did a real good job guarding Bennett Stirtz in the 1st half.

in three Summer League games Rienk Mast is averaging 16.3 ppg and 10.0 rpg
The Pacers have been a very good team but they do lack depth in the frontcourt. They didn't have any 1st round picks and only had a #38 pick in the 2nd round - so I wonder if they are looking closely at Rienk to help out their front court in the 2026-27 season. Would love to see him get a deal to stay with the Pacers. Currently Rienk has an Exhibit 10 contract - not guaranteed, but could pay as much as $1.36 million if he sticks with the team.

For those interested - two other past Braves:
Jayson Kent- 3 games, 11.7 ppg, 28,6% from 3-pt, 5.3 rph, 1.7 asst
Sean East II - 3 games, 4.0 ppg, 2-3 (67%) on 3-pointers, 0.3 rpg, 1.0 asst

... Robbie Avila is on the Lakers, but he did not play.
The Lakers Summer League team has played seven games, and they are undefeated at 7-0.
But former MVC player Robbie Avila has only played in one game so far. He played 14 minutes in
an 88-84 win over the Spurs Summer League team.
His stat line was pretty unimpressive- 14 min, 1-6, 0-2 from 3-pt, 2 pts, 1 reb, 2 asst
There are no reports I can find that he's injured. Most of the comments relate to how "unathletic" he is.
Despite being a fan favorite, (LINK) there are doubters that he'll make it to the NBA. Cameron Krutwig was
also described similarly but he's lasted five seasons playing overseas.

The Lakers' only player that they obtained in the 2026 Draft is Baylor guard Cameron Carr, who has impressed.
Last night he scored 23 pts, and is averaging 20.5 ppg in Summer League play.

He is not very fast up and down the court. He is better suited for a deliberate style pffense

Cameron Carr is interesting. He was a 4-star recruit who started at Tennessee where he played very little his freshman year. Then he only played in the first 4 games his sophomore year before he got injured, then he quit the team in December of that year. When head Coach Rick Barnes was asked why he left the team, Barnes said, "he just walked out". He transferred to Baylor, where he got more playing time the next season. He became a high-volume shooter and averaged 18.9 ppg. He fell to #24 where the NY Knicks drafted him, then immediately traded him to the Lakers. The Lakers are hoping he can help replace some of the scoring they lost with LeBron James and other players leaving.

He outplayed Lendeborg and everyone on the Knicks Summer League team

in another game- Robbie Avila played just 2 minutes of garbage time in a 23 point Lakers blowout win
with a stat line of 0 pts, 0 reb, 0 asst, 0 blk, 0 stl and 1 turnover
Seems they've already decided Robbie doesn't deserve a shot any more.

edit - this guy played NINE TIMES more minutes for the Lakers than Robbie Avila did - LINK

The Golden State Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 94-90 to win the Las Vegas Summer League Championship.
Malevy Leons started and had 10 points. He did not play much in the 4th quarter, but in the final seconds with a one-possession game, the coach (Khalid Robinson) put him back in the game to guard the Grizzlies' star player and leading scorer Cameron Boozer, and it lead to a turnover which sealed the game for the Warriors. Congratulations to Malevy!

The Warriors were awarded a nice trophy, and the Warriors players were all awarded Championship rings.
Yaxel Lendeborg was awarded the Championship Game MVP trophy.

I watched the game. Leons was a valuable part of the team but he does need to work on his 3-point shot. He was 0 for 5. A couple were wide open shots

For the 6 games he played in the Las Vegas Summer League, Malevy was 4-17 (23.5%). Going into the game last night, he was 4-12 (33.3%), but he was 0-5 last night. That might have been a factor why he was taken out midway through the 4th quart when Golden State was making their comeback.

Malevy's 3-point efficiency has been better in the G-League. With the OKC Blue (G-League affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder) he shot 35.3% from three in 2024-25, and 43.8% from three in 2025-26.
After he was traded to Golden State this past season, his percentage dropped to 29.4% from three for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

I think it speaks alot about how much they think of Leons defense when they put him back in to guard their star player on the last play

former Bradley guard Sean East III played in the summer league but was still a free agent - and signed with one of the top Canadian pro teams..
His team, the Brampton Honey Badgers are in the Championship semi's
LINK

Jayson Kent is a 2-way player for the Blazers, Terry Roberts is on the roster for the G-League Long Island Nets, Chudier Bile is playing in Japan
