It's a slow day, so here are a couple interesting trivia questions.

Question1-
Who has more NCAA wins, Dana Altman or Jim Les?

Question 2-
Among all the current MVC coaches, who has the best winning percentage in NCAA tournament play?
(Hint-only 1 has a winning percentage!)

The answer to question 1 is that they are tied with 2 each.
The answer to question 2 is Jim Les!
BU-Jim Les is 2-1.
CU-Dana Altman is 2-7!
SIU-Chris Lowery is 3-3
DU-Keno Davis was 0-1 and of course, new coach Mark Phelps is 0-0; Tom Davis was 0-0.
MSU-Barry Hinson was 0-0, and so is new coach Cuonzo Martin 0-0.
WSU-Gregg Marshall 0-0 in the MVC, but he did make the NCAA 7 times at Winthrop and was 1-7.
InSU-Royce Waltman was 1-2, and Kevcin McKenna 0-0
UE-Marty Simmmons and Steve Merfeld were 0-0 (although Merfeld did make the NCAA twice at Hampton and was 1-2)
IlSU-Tim Jankovich and Porter Moser are 0-0
UNI- Ben Jacobson is 0-0, McDermott was 0-3
other former MVC coaches--
Mark Turgeon did go 2-1 also in 2006 in his only trip to the NCAA. He is 1-1 with Texas A&M.
Matt Painter went 0-1 in his only year as head coach at SIU.
And Bruce Weber made the NCAA 2 times at SIU and went 2-2.

Note that I was certainly not being critical of Dana Altman's 2-7 record, only asking a trivia question, and hoping it would help fans realize how special that 2006 season was for Bradley.
Altman has done a great job and produced a consistent winning program at Creighton that all other MVC teams strive to do.

But if you read the Creighton fan message board, there are plenty of Creighton fans who are not satisfied with making the NCAA about half his years, and losing in the first round.

I wonder if BU made the NCAA 4 or 5 years and lost their first game every year, would fans be happy?

For a mid major program winning in conference is the most important thing IMO. Would fans be "happy" to lose in the NCAA four or five times; certainly not. However in order to get to the NCAA that many times it means we either had an outstanding regular season or won in St. Louis. For schools that essentially cant win the national championship, winning in conference should be the most important thing and the NCAA is gravy. Thats what makes Davidson's season truly great, they went undeafeted in conference and won the conference tournament then made a nice run in the NCAA. I would be very happy if we finished in well enough to win make the NCAA every year and made a run every 4 or 5 years.
