Missouri Valley players who have played in the NBA

The 4-year/$71 million ($17.75 million per year) deal for Tim Hardaway, Jr. was mind-boggling. He is known to be one of the worst defenders in the NBA, and was told by the Atlanta Hawks that they were not going to play him because of his defense. So the Knicks throw crazy money at him.
Now the Knicks pay $8.9 million ($4.45 million per year) for 2-years for Ron Baker. I am happy for Ron Baker, but this signing also stuns me. Baker went undrafted, and made the team after a stay in the D-League. He averaged 4.1 ppg in 52 games, and shot only 26.7% from three.

No wonder the Knicks are a mess. Their fans are a bit upset, to say the least. They were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season (31-51), and they don't have a proven point guard, and these 2 signings now leave them with less than $1.5 million under the salary cap, and takes them out of the running to try to sign a quality point guard like Derrick Rose or Rajon Rondo.

Right now, of all current MVC coaches, I believe Brian Wardle has THE MOST players he has previously coached under contract with an NBA team or playing in the Summer Leagues within the past year....
...Alec Brown, Alfonzo McKinnie, Kiefer Sykes

Keifer Sykes played in the Korean Basketball League this past year, not in the D-League. And I can't find that he played in the NBA Summer League since the first part of last year's NBA Summer League (2016). Did he play in this summer's NBA Summer League somewhere? If not, the Wardle is not the only MVC coach with 2 players. Wes Washpun and Jeremy Morgan are playing in this summer NBA Sumer League.

Milton Doyle might get his shot...
he just signed a deal with the Nets and will likely start with the G-League
http://www.nba.com/nets/news/2017/08/04/sign-milton-doyle-jeremy-senglin

Milton Doyle had a nice career in the MVC, but he was far from a dominant player. I don't see him ever making the NBA, but I hope I'm wrong. He does not handle the ball well for a guard, his shooting percentage was average at best, he was not a great defender, and he was never great at creating his own shots.
For a guard his size to make an NBA roster, he needs to be a great point guard, a great shooter, or a great defender, and Doyle is none of those.

Ron Baker is out due to a fracture of the left orbit (facial bone that forms the socket for the left eyeball)
He caught an elbow from the Pelicans' Anthony Davis

now we have another Bradley player to add to the list of MVC players in the NBA
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27472

Milton Doyle has now played 6 games with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 3.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.7 apg
http://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/2992564/milton-doyle

Fred Van Vleet in 54 games with Toronto- 8.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 3.1 apg

Ron Baker in 29 games with the Knicks- 2.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.6 apg

some other MVC guys this season-
Kyle Korver- 9.3 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.2 apg in 56 games
Anthony Tolliver- 8.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 0.3 bpg in 54 games
Doug McDermott- 7.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 58 games

seven MVC players in the NBA right now - wonder how long it's been since that has happened?

not too good so far for the ex-MVC players....

of course the teams Baker, Tolliver, Doyle, & Early played for this season are already out of the playoffs...

Last night Fred Van Vleet's Raptors got swept out 4-0 by the Cavs
FVV had a good game-2 in the series, otherwise did little & shot poorly.

Two teams remain that had MVC guys this season..
-the Cavs - Kyle Korver averaging 10.5 ppg and hitting 46.2% in the playoffs
-the Pelicans - Walt Lemon's team tho he is not on the playoff roster, but they are down 3 games to 1 vs. the Warriors

Alize Johnson had a very good game in the Summer League yesterday, as did Walt Lemon, Jr. - LINK
Landry Shamet had just 6 pts, 1 asst.
Ex-ISU Redbird Zach Lofton had 10 pts off the bench for the Pistons.
Milton Doyle started and had 9 pts, 6 rebs, 3 asst for the Nets.
Past Brian Wardle player (at Green Bay) Alfonso McKinnie had 12 & 5 for the Raptors.
Donte Ingram (Bulls Summer League team) has yet to play.

but one other player from a current MVC team is also now signed to play in the NBA
Altho he never played as an MVC player, Valparaiso's Ryan Broekhoff signed a 2-year deal with the Mavs
http://www.valpoathletics.com/mbask...agrees-to-nba-contract-with-dallas-mavericks/

Loyola's Donte Ingram signs a contract deal with the Dallas Mavericks
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...te-ingram-signs-mavericks-20180802-story.html

It is a form of contract called an Exhibit 10,
"which means the Mavericks have the right to convert the deal to a two-way contract
and have him play for their G League squad, the Texas Legends."

It is essentially a non-guaranteed minimum salary contract. - LINK
He is technically not on their roster but is effectively signed to a "waiting list" to see if the parent team wants to convert the contract to a "2-way deal" or assign him the their G-League. By the fall, he could get a better deal and go play overseas. Exhibit 10 salaries are not counted against the team salary for cap purposes.
