Mike Shaw transferring to Bradley from UIUC

50-50 - hope Chin gets on him...but most of these kids have been tutored since childhood to aim at the BCS-level - so sadly he will probably make the same mistake again -

BTW - how about this - Northwestern's Drew Crawford maybe leaving...but he played too many games for the usual redshirt - may need a waiver from NCAA

We may not get him, but I think Shaw has seen he's fairly deep on the roster of a tournament BCS team. I'd love Crawford, but he'll have his pick of pretty much any school in the country if he gets a waiver.

Scott Powers of ESPN Chicago just tweeted he hears Bradley as possible destination, but nothing certain.

Here's yet another transfer - let's see who wants him...

highly touted out of high school - but little recruited - for a reason...
he is NIU's top scorer - and has been in his coach's doghouse, and he takes tons of shots but has a low shooting percentage
Abdel Nader leaving NIU - he was once a Bradley recruit -

NIU's 2nd leading scorer - who was a BU recruit a year ago - Akeem Springs has also left - there's talk he will go to Mississippi Valley State Univ. where he had originally verballed way back in his junior year in HS

Wonder how long before the Braves release what player or players will not be back next season? We need Shaw (would have to sit a season)and some additional paint help for next season IMO!

If we don't pull Shaw, I'd be interested in Djimde. Good size (6'8???/245), if skilled enough he could dominate the paint in the Valley.

I am just worried by the lack of PT Shaw got at U of I

its not like you go from 0 PT @ Illinois to a stud at Bradley.... we aren't that bad

I wouldn't worry. He would be an upgrade over anyone we now have, or anyone we have a chance at landing. I agree that he may not be as good as his hype out of high school, and he may not be as good as Carl Hall, but he would be as effective as any big man the Valley will have the next couple years (now that Hall, Carmichael, McDermott, and Echenique are gone).

In fact- the top returning rebounder in the MVC next year will be Seth Tuttle (6.5 rpg), and the 2nd leading rebounder returning next year is Tyshon Pickett (5.5 rpg)! There just won't be many good returning big men in the league next year, and not many new bigs coming in.

Akeem Springs, a 6'3" guard who was once a Bradley recruit, and who left Northern Illinois after 1 season, has now transferred to Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

when Mike Shaw transferred out of Illinois - so did several other players..

one of them, Ibby Djimde - has said all along he was going to Longwood...
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showpost.php?p=280050&postcount=2

but suddenly he changes his mind - now he's headed to Coastal Carolina - musta got a better deal...
If so then it seems like payback since Coastal Carolina's Sam McLaurin suddenly left last year and went to Illinois and played immediately as a 5th year grad transfer..

Devin Langford will be at Kentucky Wesleyan - should be able to play a bunch right away

These guys were part of an Illinois 2011 recruiting class that was RANKED as high as TOP TEN Nationally!!

but now there's hardly anything left of it -
Myke Henry, Langford, Shaw, and Djimde are all gone...
Abrams & Egwu are still around.

That's probably part of the reason Bruce Weber is no longer there.

maybe "part" but Bruce only had those guys in his recruiting Class of 2011 for only one season-
.. I can't imagine anyone expected Bruce to win the Big Ten with his 2011 recruiting class all as just freshmen...
A lot of it had to do with a brand new regime - a University Prez about to come in (hired March 2012) and
a fairly new AD (hired Aug. 2011) who finally had approval for what he was considering previously,
"wanting to put their own stamp on the programs"..
