Mid Major Respect

Do you think the coaches or players on those teams are satisfied if they miss the tournament? If not then why should the fans be?

Collage basketball is big big business worth billions of dollars and has coaches making millions of dollars so I dont see the problem with asking a millionaire basketball coach "what have you done for me lately" Can you name any business job that allows people to rest on their laurels? If you are in sales and don’t sell for a year nobody cares what you did last year. That is the real world.

Wait a minute! We're not talking about the business world here. We're talking about a game. A big business, yes. But no where related whatsoever to a business firm in the "real world".

And yes, there is a big difference here. In basketball I think even the best coaches are allowed to have a down year or two every so often. Are you really telling me Lakeview Brave that if Tom Izzo has one down year where they miss the Big Dance that he should be fired??? Puhleeze!

Sorry, but I think six Final Four appearances in twelve years is pretty darn good!

How is a sport that brings in millions to a university, attracts students and keeps alumni close not business? To the students it might just be baskeball but to the athletic departments, television, staff at arean's and the other thousands of people employeed; its bussiness for sure. If it was "just basketball" then why do the coaches get paid millions of dollars? "No where related to the real world"?? Very very naive, the only revenue sport at BU and almost everyother school in the Valley is the real world for those schools and students. Do you think the same thing about football at Notre Dame?

No I dont think Tom Izzo argueably the best coach in the country would be fired but what about a coach at Michigan St. who at no final fours or even NCAA appearences? Should people who are get paid to a level that puts them in the top %1 of wealth in the world be held to a high standard?
