frankly I am surprised....these guys must only read east coast newspapers...
or maybe they've never heard of Gordon Hayward.

Their pick for frosh of the year, Rodgers, averaged 10.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg for a team that wasn't even among the top 50% in RPI and which had the 306th strongest NCSOS!
Butler was ranked all season, had a top-40 NCSOS, and Hayward averaged 13 ppg, 7 rpg and hit 45% on 3-pointers - a better shooting pct. from beyond the arc than Rodgers had from right under the basket!

Rodgers was the defensive POY. You'd have an easy argument of Hayward over Gadson, though.

sorry...I said Rodgers, but the stats and facts I gave were Gadson's & Rider's

Hayward's stats and overall performance over the season were far superior...

Mid major awards tend to do this....go for the overshadowed player (at Rider) instead of a player for a powerhouse team (Butler) that made national waves....sort of silly.

Like how Hayward makes their mid-major AA team, Gadson doesn't...and Gadson is freshman POY anyways. Makes no sense.

Asian...In my opinion all of this "mid-major" stuff is silly. Why would we expect anyone to treat us like "big boys" if we don't stop calling ourselves "mid-majors" and having things like "mid-major" Top 25, and "mid-major" awards?

Either you play big boy basketball or you dont.

The problem is there's so many definitions of mid majors that exist. Does it include the Valley? The A-10? The WAC? The MWC? You'll get varying opinions on every one. So you can't really tell if "mid major" is an insult or not.

The list above was for the high mid-majors, but CHN has a separate category for the lower mid-majors..like Davidson

They now have that list up -- sorry it is a bit confusing........

First Team Mid-Major All-America
G - Stephen Curry - Jr, Davidson
G - Eric Maynor - Sr, VCU
G - Ben Woodside - Sr, North Dakota St
G - Lester Hudson - Sr, Tennessee-Martin
F - Matt Howard - So, Butler

it appears all the Valley teams are in the higher category
