Memo to Matt Roth -- Decommit!

You haven't signed a LOI, and illegal actions were used by a repeat offender of the NCAA regulations to recruit you! And when the NCAA finally does rule on these further violations, they just may penalize Indiana for a couple years to come, and that will hurt your chances of playing in the post season.
Matt, the time is right to decommit and go elsewhere!

....................and this would be just want Sampson and IU could hope for. Don't be surprised if MR is "encouraged" to go elsewhere. After all, KS is the dirtiest player in the game. He'll find a way to get the player he really wants.
 
That would be something else. Too bad Matt, we have Chris Roberts now, who's more athletic and a darn good 3-point shooter himself.

Lets see, a player that was recruited by Louisiana Tech compared to a player who was recruited by and verballed by a Big Ten team Indiana, I'll take the Indiana guy no matter where he's from.

One Big Ten school and only to be a designated 3 point shooter and not a guy who is going to play a lot of minutes. A different type of recruit and hard to compare the two I would say.
 
Matt had said he wanted to go where he would be on a team that would compete for the National Championship every year.
Let's see if the NCAA has enough guts to sanction the program for letting Kelvin violate the terms of his prior sanctions, and let's see if they take away post-season play.
If they do, then will Matt still head to IU, or will he be required to sign his LOI before the NCAA drags their feet and ever acts on this?
I think Matt and all IU recruits should be let out of their commitments and encouraged to go elsewhere

If that was the case, Roth should have contacted Roy Williams or Ben Howland and asked if he could walk-on, because Indiana hasn't regularly contended for a national title in decades. They won't under Sampscum's tenure either.

This would be the equivalent of the death penalty for IU.....to not be able to sign any of their recruits.

The chances of that happening are about equal to the chances of it not snowing in Illinois this winter.
 
Why are we so worked up over MR? So far, to be completely honest I like McCain a lot better from what I've heard/seen(I know they are very different players), and we didn't even see that one coming. JL will bring in a good group of guys and make them great.

I hate Sampson but this obsession with MR is crazy, maybe it's because I'm not a Peoria native, but come one guys...

For the record I understand why people care....he's a local that many grew up watching and wishing well. I guess I was "worried" that this thread would deteriorate quickly.
 
I don't think it will deteriorate, but I would also like MR to know he
is still a big time favorite here in Central IL and is always welcome
to come play his college ball here.
Also, as you can see from the page view numbers, any talk of Matt Roth
seems to draw lurkers from the Indiana site where I see someone put a link to this discussion.

I agree 100%. Maybe I too don't get it because I'm not from Peoria and MR is but he decided not to come to BU. Like it or not, that was his decision and I wish him the best with it, but I'd rather concentrate on the guys who want to come here as opposed to the guys who chose somewhere else over BU.

Not sure where I fit in the discussion, but I don't think I am obssesed and do not care where he goes, but hate to see him go to IU.
 
I'm with you MDude. I am over the disappointment of no BU but still baffled by the IU choice considering Sampson's history. The snake is slithering.

And just imagine what it would have been like if MR had decided on BU, and then got very little playing time right out of the gate and slowly increased to about 15-20 minutes by his Sr year.

The Coach Les Show on WMBD woulda become nothing but a whine-fest.
