Max Bielfeldt

Lots of talk this morning on twitter about Max possibly coming to Bradley next year.

The following is from Dave Reynolds

The 245-lb. Bielfeldt will graduate from Michigan and can transfer without sitting out. Says it would be fun to play in his home city.

Michigan 6-8 junior Max Bielfeldt of Peoria just told me he's talked with Bradley coach Brian Wardle and lists BU as an option for next year

And from Roy Schmidt

I've seen no official announcement but it looks like Max Bielfeldt could be coming home & playing for Brian Wardle at Bradley next season.

Always felt Bielfeldt was a player Bradley should have never let get away to begin with. Transferring there makes perfect sense.

just do a board search for Bielfeldt as see how many times Max transferring here has been discussed -
we're finally gonna get to see him, maybe

Pretty sure if he asks for his release he is granted it because he has yet to be on campus as a student. With a head coach leaving before a recruit gets there I believe allows them release of LOI if they chose too.

I think he is a big strong kid- I just question his mobility & athleticism verse valley bigs! Not super skilled which would trump his lack of mobility/athleticism

Say what?!

This is really exciting. You will hear a giant "woo-hoo!" from me if/when there is an official announcement regarding Max.

It feels good to be excited about Bradley basketball. This will be the most interesting off-season as Coach Wardle's team comes together piece by piece. DC, I don't think anyone will hibernate from bradleyfans.com this off season! Thanks for providing this forum for breaking news and discussion.

That sounds like you are talking about Torres, the kid Wardle had committed to come play for him at UWGB for next year.
Max was quite skilled when I watched him play this year. Really good shooter. Considering his only competition from Bradley is Shaw at this point I think Max would be our best option, for whatever that is worth.
Since it would just be a one year commitment to Max and we have so many holes to fill I can't see any downside to bringing him in.

Will history repeat itself? Local legend Cellus Sommersville returned home to Pia to play for BU under just hired JL. Will local favorite
Max B also return home to Pia area to play for BU under new coach BW?

If Max wants to stay in the area post college, he would be toast of town if he returns to play for BU. This would set him up for future endorsements, coaching opportunities, clinics, advertisements and any number of opportunities in local sales, real estate, insurance agency opportunities, announcing gigs, restaurant or bar businesses, in the area for years to come. Think about it Max. Peoria Area is pretty nice if you can get away every now and then - and - where you are a big fish in the small (er) Central IL pond.

IMO, Julian Torres of Bolingbrook HS is not ready to step in and be any help for Bradley next year, if he were to get a release and decide to follow Coach Wardle. He probably needs a redshirt year, and even then, I think the MVC may be a little too high a level for him.

You need to watch more Michigan games. Max would be our best inside player if no one left. Sure hope this happens. Max we'd love to see you in a Braves uniform. Not sure why JL did not recruit you but that's old news. I know Willie offered you after JL was let go but it was to late. One thing about it stay in shape because we have a lot of minutes for you.

We are hearing that the Max Bielfeldt decision will likely come next week after he confers with his coach at Michigan about his future.

Does anybody think the point guard/shooting guard from Brimfield, Cuevas, can play at Bradley? I know he has plans on going to ICC and playing baseball and basketball.

I saw him in the state tournament and thought he handled the ball well, shot well, was a good passer and made very few mental mistakes.

Cuevas has the basketball IQ that is sorely missing on this team. There is a lot of upside on this kid. His shooting form is outstanding. His man defense is lacking but so was Maniscalco for the first two years. Put this kid in the weight room, and he will develop the toughness he now lacks for a D1 player.

I think a lower D-1 would certainly be possible........I don't see him being a MVC type player.......he's going to ICC correct?....so maybe we'll see how it goes....yajustneverknow

Other than strength, what weaknesses does he have that would prevent him from playing at Bradley as either a point guard or shooting guard?
