March 6, 2011 Memorial Thread

This thread is dedicated to the day that JL was fired, Sunday, March 6, 2011.

My hope is that any time you have the urge to hijack a thread unrelated to JL, please post here instead. Let's make this thread cover everything to recalling how great the Sweet Sixteen run was or how Pres Broski let KK run the athletic dept and didn't mettle with coaches unlike JG and MC. We can even discuss how close JL came to finishing higher than 4th in the MVC.

Most recently, the BU/SIU 2/18/2014 game thread was nearly hijacked to somehow compare GF tenure to JL's. I do not believe JL's tenure had anything to do with this game since he was 2000 miles away in California. I'm glad that thread got corrected back to game discussion.

Hopefully this will serve well to keep threads on topic and let fans go back to the good old days of the 2000's.

Thank you. Earlier this season, I announced that the statute of limitations had expired and suggested a moratorium on blaming Jim Les, or using his name to justify the current problems. Nonetheless, it keeps happening. Maybe we'll just call this the anti-therapy or antagonism thread. :) :) :)

I don't care what anyone says, if Les was still coach, the current situation wouldn't be anywhere close to what it is now. Yes Les wasn't great but sure as heck beats what Geno is doing and bringing in lol.

Count me among the ones who thought that JL's tenure had run its course. There were other circumstances that help lead to his departure, and we all know who that person is, but he had 9 years to win a Valley regular season championship and/or a MVC post season championship and didn't do it. But as the old proverb goes, "Be careful what you ask for. You just might get it." And boy have we gotten it the last 3 years. This certainly wasn't what I was looking for.

The thing that the anti-Les people don't
want to hear is the truth. That being Dr.
Cross wanted to give Jim at least one more
year, but Madame President was afraid that
if Jim had a good year it would be difficult to
get rid of him. With Taylor, Will and DSE back
it looked like that could very well be the case.
Then along came Geno and we were told
the three great late recruits he brought in along
with the returning three above and BU was back
in business. Lo and behold, the recruits were duds,
Taylor didn't come back as soon as many thought,
Will missed the entire season and DSE had his
share of injuries and one of the worst seasons
in Bradley history followed. Geno was left off the
hook because of the injuries to the above three (Jim
never used injuries as an excuse and not a coach
around had more than him) and the fact that he got
a late start in recruiting (even though Reynolds told
us how wonderful these recruits were). Then last year
BU wins 18 against one of the worst schedules in school
history, led by two Jim Les recruits (Walt and Will.)
Now in year three we are struggling mightily against a
weak schedule, the recruits we have are questionable at best,
and our best two players are seniors, one still from
the Les era. It is amazing that
this staff is treated with kid gloves by so many. They have
not proven they can coach or recruit. Those close to the
program comment that Geno runs a loose ship. His job is
safe because he was hired by Glasser, just like Elvis was,
and there is no way she is going to get rid of either. A sad
state of affairs no matter how you slice it. If Glasser is the
"great" President that so many paint then she needs to let the
A.D. run the athletic program and stay as far away from it as
possible. The once proud basketball program is heading deeper
into oblivion and she is just making the ride to the bottom go faster.

And you work in BU's AD or BU's Admin Dept for 1st hand knowledge to substantiate?

You could also send your above concerns directly to El Presidente privately
by email/snail mail, or, publically through the media, and ask for a response.

For ALL the desperate never should have let les go folks, I can't understand
how you can't all get together with what I will assume is a great amount of
donor money and demand to meet with the Board of Trustees and/or
Madam President herself and threaten to withhold your money/support
along with all other local supporters of BU MBB....

Go public through PJS/Local TV Sports Depts about your concerns...
Wage a PR battle that backs your fever over BU MBB. In other words, put up.... Are all the big money
BU MBB supporters in your camp re AD, Prez, Dump GF? Line them up, money talks, not message boards...

Go get em!

Championships, lots of championships...
Check out Les' rebuilding in years 1-3 and ask yourself why he wasn't fired after year 3?

I'll pm you more so I don't get thrown out of the Forum before the end of the Pick Em...;-);-);-);-)
