Maniscalco to Illinois?

I see only a very few "happy" people posting -- and those are the ones that are gleeful that Bradley fired it's coach..
I have my doubts that they are all real Bradley fans -- as some are disgruntled and hold grudges againt BU and some of the people there..

but does it surprise me that some would be happy in a very dark time for BU ?? nope -- there even some like Prof Churchill.. that were happy to see the events of 911...

What's unprecedented is the happy and cheerful tone of some posters about BU right now. It's too bad, but its common when times are tough.

Everything has turned 180, and it's a struggle for people to keep their heads. Those who pointed out every flaw in JL are now downplaying any repurcussions of the firing, and those who downplayed the flaws in JL are now pointing out every single repurcussion. Everyone is now doing what they accused the other side of doing pre-firing. It could be a sociological experiment. :) It will calm down, eventually.

...and those who downplayed the flaws in JL are now pointing out every single repurcussion. ....

oh no, no, no.....most of the people in this camp are biting their tongue because even a fraction of what "repercussions" might get public would be disastrous...
nobody comes out clean from a wrestling match in a pig pen..
Did it help anyone, anywhere when the facts slipped out in the JL/WM/Joe B McD debate in 2002?

God I hope so.

I disagree. I did want a change, but I never cheered for JL to fail. I also never "hated" on the President because a change wasn't made sooner.

Now I see people "happy" that players are leaving. People are openly taking shots at President Glasser, the A.D., the school.

I do not want SM to play for anybody else. However I truly do not consider him a traitor or anything else if he does. He will be done with his degree this spring. He is a graduate and can move on to anything he wants. I also don't think his leaving is a sky is falling type of event either. I'd be shocked if some players didn't leave!

most "shots" being taken by anyone at anyone are being moderated and I have seen very few....
only what I might consider to be a fair discussion of the events and the situation...

I didn't specifically mention your name. I was speaking in generalities. Some people who wanted Les gone amplified every negative to champion their cause. Most of those people have been relegated elsewhere. I don't see people "happy" now, but they are using the transfers and scuttlebutt of dissension to champion their cause.

Like I said, things will calm down. Might take awhile. We won't know if the decision was correct until we see who they bring in, and how that person molds the players, both on the court and off.

Let's just continue to try to see all sides of the issue, and not do anything out of emotion that would lead to regret. It all comes down to who they hire. They darn well should. Maybe that will help them make the right decision.

Best of luck to Sammy. He was a good - not great - player for some decent Bradley teams and should be thanked for his contributions here.

In reality, Sammy going to U of I to play is very similar to what happens in the real world where folks will leave a job if a boss or mentor they highly respect departs.

Telling people to hate is fair discussion? (and I'm not saying that was you)

Actually, a better analogy is a kid who graduates from Bradley, then goes somewhere else for grad school. Happens all the time. Especially when Bradley doesn't offer a grad program in their field of study.

Wait....that's not an analogy. That's exactly what's happening. ;)

Good luck, Sammy.

I was also wondering about this...did SM get a redshirt for this year? If not can he still go to grad school somewhere else and play or not? My thinking is that if he didn't receive it, then his eligibility is up...might be wrong about that, not sure!

I must admit, the grad school thing, plus Illinois' need for a SM type player, and Les' firing all give reason to think this could actually happen. I'll give it that. But I still assert that Sam will not make an official decision until a new coach is hired.

At least I hope it turns out that way.

Either way, best of luck to SM in his future endeavors. He's always been a guy that represented the program very well.
