Lewis Game

I thought the point guard from Lewis was pretty good and very tricky. He burnt our guys several times. Good penetrator and passer. He may be a bit undersized, but I wonder how he did not get a DI scholarship?

Lots of guys shoot well in open gym style situations...

Lots of guys also shoot well against our sagging defense...

Also, if anyone noticed, the kid wasn't very quick, but knew how to do the Nate Funk-esque push off w/ his forearm to clear some space for his shot or a cut to get open for a shot.

Edge

Edge

Tornado: You're over the line on this one---I did NOT attack EM. Read what I said---"I really want EM to succeed and I'm not giving up on him"---Does this sound like an attack?
I believe he has some good skills however, for whatever the reason, he does not seem to bring them to bear in game situations on a consistant basis. Again, while his perimeter defense is good, he does not defend well at all against the drive. You asked what I expect of a point guard. I expect more than no assists in 23 minutes against a Divn. II team! I expect more than 1 basket in 23 minutes. Last nite I saw no improvement from last year. I truly hope you are right and I am wrong but how long can we wait to find out?

wizard..my comment was a response to a post other than yours...go back and see...I have no problem with what you say...
I am bothered a bit by the comment under your post that we should get rid of EM (not even use him as backup) or we won't be winning many games.

how good would we be if SM got injured and we decided to go without EM?
He is our PG of the future and we need him now but we need him to continue to develop...
some reports I have heard say he has been one of the best and most consistent players in the closed practices and scrimmages thus far....

Ok ok, but to play devil's advocate, they said the same stuff about Collins and Thompson..and Mo said that about Reggie Hall...

You see the point.

That being said, that will be the first and last time you see me compare Edge to any of them as I think he's a talented kid and before the end of the year, most will love him being out on the floor.

One EXHIBITION does not make a season. Sim Sim Simmer down everyone. The true test comes on Friday! EM will be just fine.

I know this was our 1st exb. in front of a crowd but not guarding the 3 point shooters has consistently hurt this team the last several years, it does not matter whether you are a d-1, d-2, d-3 or high school player if they leave a kid that can shoot at all he will make those wide open shots, (stay on your man)
This team has a lot more talent than any of our BU teams in the last several years but it needs to be handled better or we will not see the results we all desire.
Our inside players need to score more or we will not get open looks for our 3 point shooters.
No reason why we cannot get 16 points a game out of the center position and 16 out of the 4 position.

I think that I will save any comments until after Friday. This game didn't mean anything and did not even come close to what we will see out in Provo. I think that the only repeat performance will be Warren getting over 20. I did call him the POY I think back in August and I stick to it! You can't really get much from this game other than EVERYONE got some PT! We will se after Friday.

..they said the same stuff about Collins and Thompson.....

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say Collins & Thompson are the best, most intense, or effective players in practice....in fact, quite the opposite..they were kinda laid back..
but AT wasn't getting minutes anyway and Collins played but who'd have taken his minutes and done any better...
you just have to go with who's the best and I have to figure some of that's based on what's seen in practice

Some of the wide open 3's are due to our out front guards getting beat off the dribble and the defense having to rotate, or, when BU defense tries to double team when ball goes inside and other teams move the ball back out to open shooters.

Hopefully AT, JP, WE can progress to the point where double teams inside aren't needed.

Was the lack of scoring inside due to poor shooting %, turnovers, poor rebounding/lack of putbacks, or lack of shot opportunities due to the offense not being set up to run through the low post enough?

I think BU settled for baseline jumpers and three-pointers (I'd have to see a shot chart to verify that). Bradley didn't attack the hoop very often and they don't have a guy that they can confidently dump the ball into the post regularly with good results right now.

I'm hoping that Bradley has some defenses that they didn't want to show. I don't remember seeing any zone until the freshman quartet played.

The only times I remember BU really attacking the hoop, were two SamM drives where he dumped out to AW for threes, one went in, and the other AW was fouled.

I didn't go but I will wait until the season gets started to get too excited or upset regarding games.....see you all there next Sunday.....that's when the season starts.

I honestly think EM will be better than some people and not as good as other people. LOL

How about before the game even started.....was that Intro video boring or what? I didnt mind the history video before it, but man, that second video about put me to sleep.

Did the Civic Center replace the video scoreboard this season? The one from last year had pretty poor video resolution..
