Last 2 Scholarships

Yes I have been saying all year that we need a lot more production out of the 2 spot. And next year we lose Crouch at the 3 so we better have some shooters coming in next year that can play.

Hopefully Chris Roberts is someone who can fill that void. I think next year's team could harken back to the frontcourt-oriented type of team we had in '05-'06.

I think Warren will be fine, right now all the points are going to Ruff, Crouch, Wilson and gang, not enough shots to go around and we havn't played enough huge games to keep the all the starters in for huge minutes. We know Warren can shoot the ball and have seen that on multiple occasions, we just havn't needed his shots all that much. 4 of the 8 games he has 10+ points including 46% FG and 44% for threes. Thats pretty good if you ask me. Also don't forget he put up a clutch 18 points against our 1 true tough Vanderbilt team in our 2nd half comeback. I have faith in him, this is his first year starting, he won't be a main shooter every game this season. Lets see how the rest of the season pans out. I'm more worried about Cole Scott than Warren.

Warren is shooting 29% from 3 this year. That isn't good, especially in an offense largely predicated in shooting the 3.

I always thought of Warren as more of a SF rather than a SG. Sure he's going to take 3's but as he gets bigger and develops I think he may be more of a 12 foot jumper or slashing type player.

While Warren CAN shoot the three-ball, I like to see him pull up and hit the mid-range jumper just to keep the defense honest. I'm also more worried about TCS than Warren at this point.

Wow...giving the remaing two scholarships to guards would give us a recruiting class of FOUR guards! I dont like that scenario. I would rather fill the last two scholarships with a wing forward, and a big.
TCS also worries me more... Not a fan of TCS' defense.

I think Warren is so important this season because when teams push a bigger guard out to play JC and is physical with him, or he is double teamed and not allowed to shoot 3 Warren is the shooter this team needs to step up and open JC back up or take over his shooting/scoring.

His 3 pt shooting is poor but his overall shooting numbers are solid...36-66 47%, thats not really bad and it means he is a good mid range shooter, I think if a guy is solid in a mid range game he, if he works at it, should become over time a solid 3 point shooter. I believe once a shooter always a shooter, Warren is a shooter, just not either confident or not ready to shoot the 3 consistantly. He is 1-8 over the last two games.

I agree, we cant have a 4 guard class. Hopefully TCS will become the player that hit all those threes in JUCO, Im not giving up on him yet. I would like a wing player and a big with the last two scholarships unless we get a top 50 in the country player at guard.

We already have 2 guards signed so I would like to at least see us sign a player that is 6-8 ; Austin looked not ready to play at this level last night but Cole-Scott hit his last 3 point shots so hopefully that will get him going; Andrew warren is a very good player who should be driving and taking a short jumper in the lane; he is too good to be settling for 3 point shots.

I've said this all along. AW needs to go to the hole a bit and pick up fouls. Right now we do not have that palyer that wants to go to the hole and hit the mid-range. AW can be that player. We all know he has the talent. He is going to want to have that job. Grant Hill was that type of college player. Does TW have a jumper btw?

Speaking of Wes Witherspoon-- I keep hearing that Bradley is still in on him, but there is a new premium article on Scout.com that discusses him, and it lists his current choices. It does not include Bradley now, though I have learned not to trust these articles, as they have been wrong before.

Here is what it says--
Wesley Witherspoon divulged a new list. He mentioned Virginia, Memphis, Clemson, Colorado, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas and George Washington. Witherspoon claimed everyone on his list has offered.

Dave Leitao, of Virginia, and Tracy Webster, of Kentucky, watched him Saturday night. Prior to his game against June Buchanan he visited Kentucky for their game against North Carolina. Witherspoon isn't in a rush to make a college decision.

i agree. we need another shooter, preferably 6'4" or taller and we need a good sized PF to go along with Thompson down low. don't forget he's technically in that class.

Agreed. We need bigger guards, and I think that slowly but surely we're getting them. Guys like Ruffin only come along once every so often. To compete with the big boys, we're going to need some more size at the guard position. I have never seen Eddren McCain play, but I am hoping that he's a legit 6'0" and has the length to defend like he's 6'2" or 6'3". I like Roberts size, especially if he can shoot and is as athletic as he's reported to be. I would certainly like to add another 6'3"-6'6" shooter who can defend the perimeter to this class.
