I have told this story before..but I sat right at the end of the Indiana State bench for one game at the Valley tourney 5 years ago and I would NEVER do it again!!
Royce and his antics and language were horrible, embarrassing, and so totally inappropriate that I never understood how his school continued to employ him and how the refs gave him a pass on all his "fu**er", "motherf*****", "c**t" and "****sucker" expletives...
Several other fans nearby, especially those who had kids -- got up and left to find seating elsewhere...and yet it was all so totally uncalled for as Royce & his squad were totally blown out by the Shockers.
But then, when Turgeon inserted a walk-on kid and he launched a 3-pointer in the final 30 seconds when WSU led by 20, Royce had a total meltdown. He cursed clear across the court at Turg, Elgin, the refs, and anyone else in earshot.
It was perhaps the single most irrational, immature & childish rant I have ever seen by any adult and the most intentional effort to spew the foulest language possible that I was embarrassed for the nearby Sycamore fans and for pretty much the whole Valley.
I was not saddened when Royce got canned the next year.
