Like I said, I'm really starting to like the looks of Lusk given the Purdue pedigree with

Plus like I said in the other thread just look at their roster...all but 1 guy from the MW

We could throw out hundreds of names, and maybe we might get the one that would end up hired by BU. If I was setting odds, I actually think Lusk's chances would be a little higher than most mentioned here, because he is a good recruiter, hard worker, and may make a good coach (that part is unproven). However, the SIU job will almost certainly be available soon, and I think he is more likely to end up there (he's a southern IL kid, and an SIU alum '96).

I can't see a guy who is clearly ready now that has been endorsed by Painter waiting another one or two years for a job even if it is SIU for a slam dunk like Bradley...

I mean cmon DC, you talk up the program all the time...don't we have much more to offer than SIU, especially if he'd have to wait to take that job

A coach that could come to BU and propel us back into the national spotlight would become a local legend and a wanted commodity in much the same way as Dick Versace was. I would think (if the salary is respectable) that BU would be a VERY impressive job for a good up-and-coming coach.

I think it would be a nice benefit to have someone like him who has big ties to the NBA, like Les, to help recruiting.

To a player who's debating between mid majors and knows he can't go where he'll be on national tv once a week, the mid major with a rich history and a coach with Eastman's reputation would be HUGE selling points if I was a recruit and I thought I could take my game to the next level.

you can do some digging and find that NBA assistants make an extreme minimum of $100K...and that's for the newer "behind the bench" coaches...
..and the vast majority making far more...
Someone like Eastman -- a 7-year assistant who is one of just THREE on-the-bench assistants with the most successful NBA program in existence would probably be making many times that.
Kev in also owns an independent basketball consulting firm and does various camps, so I suspect the BU money won't lure him...
I would be very surprised if he'd want to take a step down in salary to come work in the midwest under the current circumstances...

As I said before, there are a lot of "bumps" in the road to KE coaching at BU, BUT---If he really wanted to do this, things could be worked out, IMO.

In any event, we'll never know unless we call him and talk. Is the possibility, however remote, worth a phone call from MC?

I just don't get it. It's called tunnel vision. With all of his great qualifications, why is everyone ignoring the fact that he was never a successful college coach. He tried 3 times. You can be great at a number of things, but when it comes down to it, he was not a big winner at the college level. If he is such a great coach why didn't he prove it when he had the chance?? Be careful, you may get what you wish for. I haven't heard much about Coach Spoon at the CC level. I know some college coaches that say this guy is exceptional. Reocrd last year was, I believe, 32-2 or someting like that. While he is still at the CC level, he has been incredibly consistent.

I think Bradley has as much or more to offer than SIU, but every coach will make his decision on his own terms, not Bradley's.
First, I don't think he will have to wait 1 or 2 years for the SIU job to open. Second, most top Big Ten assistants are paid very well, maybe almost what Bradley would pay it's head coach. It is the reason Brian Gregory wasn't interested in the job 9 years ago. So Lusk is under no pressure to leave Purdue. Also, most quality assistants are so beholden to their head coach, that they will do whatever they recommend, so Lusk likely would need Painter's approval to take any job. Maybe Painter will advise him not to seek the BU job. And for the other reasons I mentioned, he's from New Baden, Illinois, he played at SIU, and he was an assistant coach at SIU. I think it is much more likely he'll end up at SIU, but who knows.
