Just to be clear

I was accused in another thread of having never said anything "pro-JL".

So, just to set the record straight.

When Jim Les was hired, I was actually quite excited. I thought it was "outside the box", but I thought it could work.

I argued, against the current, on the PJStar board against many many people who felt it was ridiculous to hire a coach with very limited experience.

I posted about staying calm, giving it time to grow. I pleaded many times on that board that Jim would learn on the job and eventually create a winner.

The very night of the WSU game (I think), when BU tanked the game and looked like the team would fall apart during the S16 season, I went on the board and said Jim had done his best postgame ever on the radio.

Jim came out and said he was challenging the team, changing who would get minutes, etc...you all remember that postgame.

and it worked....Jim turned that season around, the team went on that crazy run and I was there (as many were) when BU played in Auburn Hills and beat two powerhouses!!

I pumped Jim, the team, the program, and everything surrounding it up as much as possible. So did many people I know who post on here and on PJStar.

I gave JL even more credit the following year when he rebuilt the offense around the perimeter and did his best coaching job.

However, in the past several seasons as the losses have increased and the level of play and fundamentals has decreased(IMO)....Yes, I have been less positive about the job JL has done and the direction the program is heading.

I think this probably covers how many many BU fans feel about the situation.

Now, there are some on here who will support Jim Les and say he is doing a super job to this very day. That is fine, and I accept that that is your opinion.

For me, I just cannot do that. I want and frankly, expect better for this program.

I realize people feel differently and have different sets of goals or whatever. That is great. The world would be boring if everyone felt the same on every issue.

But don't try and call me out and say I never liked JL or wanted him to do well. That is BS and 100% untrue.

I praise the coaches and team when it's warranted. I will also criticize or question them when it's warranted.

JD...you never have to explain yourself OR apologize for anything you write. You are fair, HONEST and simply giving your opinion. I quit caring about what others think awhile back and just remain TRUE to myself and my beliefs.

Like you I keep my posts about the team and BU hoops and leave the personal attacks to others that are frustrated or whatever the reason maybe.

Other then that "Packer" thing your as good as it gets.....:)

We've lost games from guys being hurt..no doubt...how many games have we won from guys getting that extra year and being physcially and mentally stronger...don't know just axeing?

Really? I started this thread to refute yet another lie posted about me by another poster. It was not to shout anything down, other than an outright lie.

I also do not like being labeled as a "fire Jim Les" side.

My label is the "Please win games" side.

I have to agree with you in that I have supported this program and Les for over 4o years and even though he was not my choice for coach I had no problem with him getting the job, I believe he gets paid a great salary to win and the bottom line is we are not winning , something needs to happen in order for Bradley to start winning championships.

can you imagine this year without Dodie and Andrew? Of course we would have other players in their slot.....so who knows....

If this board was around then I bet PT would have caught the same slack as KW and, IMO, it would have been well deserved. PT was a redbird fan and again IMO, anti-BU.

Chico, you need to get Back here and out of AZ. fast. That dry air is drying up your mind?? phil was a BU fan and alot of people thought he didn't like Mo. Couldn't be farther from the truth. MO and Phil are good friends even today.

I believe they are good friends today....not sure that was not always the case...forgiveness comes to mind...

Bingo- that's the huge difference. Losing a star player right before the season is a much greater negative than the positive of getting a player back another year. The injured players cannot be replaced. A player graduating on schedule can and always is replaced with routine recruiting.

Just to be clear:

During the season I will not publicly call for the job of a guy that is coaching a team that I support...for I support that team, players and coach...when the season is over...maybe I will voice my opinion...but not now...its destructive to the team I support...

yeh I know players don't read this and coaches never hear about message board banter....yeh right....

Better players are never routine..and to compare andrew this year (5th year) vs as a junior ..well there isnt any comparison.

Dodie is probably the same as he was last year.

Prosser is another example of this..

His change was frosh, vs 5 year senior...Way different in ability.

This is getting like the twilight zone. Are you suggesting, as others have, that somehow having devastating, season-ending injuries to the best player(s) on your roster somehow actually benefits a team?

Why do the fans who are anti-JL have to even resort to distorting reality to try to convince themselves and others that it's all Jim Les' fault?

By the way, playing your game, I could make a strong case that the serious injuries to players like AW and WE actually had more than 1 year effect. It probably stunted their progress and hurt their performance their first season, and subsequent seasons back from the injuries.

Why do fans who are "pro-JL" think nothing has been his fault?

Another gross exaggeration. Where has anyone ever said this? If you are going to lob this, please give us an example.
I have been very critical of the coaching in a number of games this season.

AW and WE did take more than 1 year to get back...in fact SRW just eluded to AW not being near the same as last year....

Ok, i will admit it is an over exageration, but that is what this whole issue has become, blown out of proportion.

You are either labelled "pro-JL" or "anti-JL" there is no middle ground according to some people, you have to be one or the other. I want Bradley University to succeed and I dont give a **** who the coach of the basketball program is as long as they win games.

Sad but true...if you come on a message board and call for the coach to be fired, you will be labeled anti JL...guess it goes with the territory...
