Journal Star Looking Good - BU Boot Camp

The question or donating six figures.....? :)

Could be neither.
Maybe he's talking about the BU boot camp workouts. :)
I have a feeling that FWO is going through them, but not letting us know.
Stupid and annoying is what you're body's tellin' ya', but you know it'll pay off!

nothing is open to Bradley Fans unless ...

I beg to differ........and one of the links below is to YOUR post about plenty of info on events...
(btw-- various rules, time constraints, some Civic Center policies, and even just common sense all prohibit BU from having open practices and letting anyone and everyone in....which is why you don't see any school in the nation doing it)

All over this board and several other places are documented at least 25-30 different events that you can take part in if you so choose, where you can see the players, meet and greet the team, tour the arena, and watch the team in action.....

in fact, the folks at Bradley have gone way overboard to create, plan, arrange, and schedule so many different events, that I cannot imagine where you come up with this baloney about nothing open...

Here are just a few links, but if anyone even needs to give you any links, it's because you haven't been paying attention or you really don't care, except to gripe.....

I am referring to more about open gyms that we can't go to in the summer....

and the "VIP" practice at the civic center......

what makes you a VIP so that you are allowed?

thank you. let me know when a "meet and greet" and "midnight madness" aren't open to fans........................................................

Some schools have open gyms throughout the summer....I was referring to practice based events like what the question was about.

There are ways to get the supposed VIP status...

--donations -- yes, money does sometimes have its privileges
--other support -- as goes with being a long time season ticket holder -- and go to events & make sure they know you are 100% pro-BU
--befriend someone else who has already done the above and go with him...not as hard as you might think
--then, finally, some people I know who are NOT big donors, just went up to campus - or called and asked, if they could have a tour of the new arena and were guided all through it and even happened upon some players in the process.
Starting next Friday, many, many tours and almost free access are offered as part of what going on with the Homecoming.....

this may be true, but those are not organized practices, since NCAA doesn't allow such organized practices in the off-season...

HOWEVER -- we've had many, many posters point out that if you just walk in to the Markin Center almost any time day, evening, or night, there are guys practicing and playing even some pick-up games, and some of them are players....but there won't be any schedule to know when...

of course about the organized practices no being allowed.....but why would you think we wouldn't have "organized" open gyms in the summer...jw

won't all the players be in the facility now that it is open anyways?

I just want some off-season progress reports to hear/see for myself.......all we have is minimal hearsay.........tell DR to go watch a practice and write about it (if he is allowed of course)

Dave Reynolds had written on practices that he has viewed, and maybe he's planning it this season, too...

btw-- newer NCAA rules do allow some organized sessions thru the summer, but they are restricted pretty tightly -- only 2 hours per week -- so that I cannot imagine any head coach would want any chance of distractions or interruptions - thus I would have to believe they'd all be closed.........

Lastly -- you said..
I just want some off-season progress reports
..and yet we used to actually have that, but massive misuse, misinterpretation, and rumor spreading by a few whose agendas were not pro-Bradley have led to a bit more discretion....

nothing is open to Bradley Fans unless you donate 6 figures a year. It is stupid and annoying.

Not quite accurate FWO. At a small school like BU, and in a small town like Peoria it doesn't take anywhere near six-figures to gain special access and privileges to BU basketball. In fact, I believe it only takes around $15,000/year to join BU's Scholarship Society which provides a lot of this special and extra access.

One of the benefits of living in Peoria and supporting BU basketball is that it doesn't take a lot of money to be a big fish in a small pond. Now, at a school like UK, Duke, or Kansas it probably would take six-figures.

Makes sense....but ISU had them this summer......:x

Back to my original question, has anyone stopped by and looked at any of the players in any of the boot camp events?

If so, and you don't have an anti BU agenda, any thoughts you can share? ;-);-)
