Joliet Catholic at Peoria Richwoods

The private schools have a huge advantage because of recruiting , Richwoods piled up a large no. of yardage in that game but 5 turnovers was the main difference as if you expect to beat Joliet Catholic you have to play error prone .

You didn't know they recruit?

Public schools recruit, too.
Chicago public schools do it better than anyone. They allow open enrollment, meaning that any Chicago resident can attend any public school. That's why all the good basketball players end up at the same school. For a long time it was King, and in recent years it's been Simeon and Young.

I happen to disagree...
I think the biggest difference & advantage is that the public schools have almost endless access to taxpayers' money to recruit and build better programs, public schools have to do it on a shoestring budget.
On top of that - numerous rules have already been placed into effect to try to "level the playing field" by hampering the private schools' ability to compete such as the multiplier, the transfer rules that make kids sit out a year if they go to private schools but are immediately eligible if they go to public schools, and the prohibitions on coop-ing and other rules and bans..

In the end, there were never more than two classes that are generally dominated by private schools anyway, and still - two are going to be won by private schools again this year, it's just that instead of it being 4A & 5 A, it'll be 5A & 6A.

So what good did all those unfair rules and arbitrary restrictions do?
Some day people will realize that most of the time when a private school is good, it's because they work at it and are good...not because they have an unfair advantage.
And I agree with Da Coach, the most massive and flagrant recruiting in high school sports has always been going on in the public schools. Even some of the local basketball stars change schools frequently among the public schools, and the majority of those schools who get caught with blatant cheating are all public schools.

If the football team beats Montini for the championship, this is shaping up to be a pretty good calendar year for JCA with baseball, volleyball, and football all winning state.

Back to this Public vs Private school thing! Who cares? Which place is giving the kids the tools to excel at the next level. My understanding overall private school kids do better. So why not send your kid to the better of the two if you have your choice. So you want someone to regulate that for the sake of sports?:-o
