John Wilkins' 7' brother

Da Coach

It has been rumored that BU recruit John Wilkins' younger (14 years old) brother, Jonathan, may be looking for a high school in the US to transfer to to avoid the same problems John had.

Here is a small piece inserted in Greg Stewarts column about Boys Basketball/Large School in today's (2/25) Peoria Journal Star
http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x844642509/Stewart-A-passion-was-born-in-1984

The tallest tale around town is that Metamora could get a 7-foot freshman next year from Belgium. Fourteen-year-old Jonathan Wilkins, younger brother of Bradley recruit John Wilkins, is looking for a place to play in the U.S. Metamora coach Jim Youngman is connected to former Illinois State assistant Bill “Flash” Flanagan, who coached Wilkins’ father, Jeff Wilkins, at ISU.

One other tidbit in Greg Stewart's column was this mention of Dyricus Simms-Edwards. Maybe he is close to a decision? Could Bradley still be in the picture?--

Disregard what you might have read on a certain Web site that calls itself ???the premier website for Illinois high school basketball fans.??? In reporting on the recruitment of uncommited Washington senior Dyricus-Simms Edwards, the Web site says ???he has no leader at this time and that he could possibly make his choice as early as this month.??? ... If he has no leader, why would he be inclined to make a choice now? Also, DSE and Washigton coach Kevin Brown have repeatedly said they will deal with his college decision after the high school season is over. ???That??™s the same Web site that listed three or four schools that have never talked to us,??? Brown said.

Don't get too excited BU fans... if you know what I mean. If the rumors are true, he will have 4 years of Big 10, Big East, etc., propaganda to sway him to a BCS school. That's a long time for the BCS driven media to brainwash a young mind. So, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Whew, thanks. I was actually starting to get the thought Bradley could have a slight chance at him. Thanks to the enthusiam-police for once again keeping any of us from a slight optimistic thought.:D

You are quite welcome. I am glad to be of service.

Will he enroll at Metamora or will he go to a private school?

Theres still plenty of time for the recruiters to get on him.....;)

Here's the thing...

Dad lives in Gary, Indiana. If 14-year-old son wants to get a US High School education (for basketball reasons), why not keep him near him? For younger Jonathan to be living down here, someone has to be moving here with him. And why would you choose to come here unless you knew at least one of two things:

-You want Bradley to constantly be involved with him and easily following him.
-You want to be close to family -- when John Wilkins plays at BU!

It's not like Metamora is a powerhouse school that has incredible coaches (from what I know) that would cause someone to choose them over any other high school.

(PS... John Wilkins and Jonathan Wilkins? Real clever Mr. & Mrs. Wilkins... must love that name!)

John and Jonathan's dad is a trucker. Metamora has a company named Star Trucking that BU and U of I are quite familiar with. Doesn't sound like an issue to me.

Wow, the conspiracy theories are starting!:D

By the way, Star Trucking is located in Morton. They are not in Metamora, and have no connection to Metamora that I know of.
Also, they have no connection with Jeff Wilkins, they don't provide summer jobs for Bradley players any more, and have nothing to do with Bradley as far as I know.

It was all in fun, and am glad it was taken that way! :-D

how?

how?

I'm confused how he could be eligible to play there when the Limestone kids couldn't. Unless dad is moving? Would they sign guardianship over to someone he could live with?

Yes -- someone would need to move there with him/them. Obviously we don't know his family situation so it's tough to speculate the details.

Or he could have three years of enjoying watching his brother play a quick trip down Route 116...

are there any BIG Bradley boosters in Metamora??

isn't that somewhere near Stark County Mac??

Metamora = Woodford County. I'd say that is more of a ENE Suburb.

IMO, quite a ways from the NW Suburbs, considering you'd have to cross the river in Peoria or go all the way to Lacon. ;)
