Jays beat writer has BU 9th in MVC this week

So we're behind two teams we've beaten already and one of those teams was on their floor. I don't know why I waste my time even commenting on writers like this.

The sycs took us into overtime in peoria and drake is playing better lately. Let's not start playing this "holier than thou" act after one good game. We're not out of the woods yet.....we just found a compass.

We don't agree, but does it really matter? If we had finished out a few of those very-winnable games maybe we'd get more respect. All the team can do is try to fight hard every game, and prove these people wrong.

Yes it would, and does this really surprise anyone?

The Jays have disrespected us many times, from their players, to their staff, down to their writers, and fans....

Recall what was said before the 2006 tournament game when we beat them...

Who cares what a beat writer from Omaha has to say??? Let's just win these next few games and let be played out on the hardwood. Unless this guy becomes the next "Oracle of Omaha", I really do not care what comes out of his mouth.

We just need to sweep CU. Not sure when we did this last, but there seems to be no better chance than this year.

Creighton disrespects everyone. It's why they are the team (and fans) that every other school in the league hates the most. It's the most obvious in St. Louis, when fans from all the other teams in the league are in attendance.

When SIU is good and their fans are in full force there fans are horrible. But Ill give you the way CU's fans acted in 06 was as classless as classless can get. But for my money SIU fans are the worst, go to a game there some time wearing BU gear and see how your treated.

But then again Ive been to games at ISU blue and at Evansville and been treated horrible.

So reality other then BU fans all other Valley fans are obnoxious :)

Hey, everybody has to make a living some how and I'm sure he is trying to do his best. Lets see what he has to say next week...

After watching the CU students last year in St. Louis I would agree that they, and the rest of their fans, are pretty bad. That being said, I have also met a lot of really nice people from Creighton. I think SIU is still the fan base that I "like the least."

As far as the writer goes....his opinion means little. BU can change his mind with about three more wins in a row!

GO BRAVES!!!

Hate to rain on anyone's parade, but if you have taken the time to notice, DU has won 3 in a row vs Southern ILL (at Carbondale), Missouri State and Illinois State. They lost at CU by 4 immediately prior to their streak.

BU? Well, they have won 1 in a row vs Missouri State.

I'd wait until BU plays SIU tonight (and wins) before I'd start barking about how a CU beat writer could possibly pick Drake over BU this year based on the first 7 games of the MVC season.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. :p ;)

OK, so BU beats SIU :) equaling Drake's win vs SIU

But, Drake wins again vs Evansville, their streak now at 4 for a team picked preseason at the bottom of the Valley :o

THEREFORE.....

Drake vs BU for MVC Tournament Title

He has the Jays at 5. Drake and InSU ahead of BU?..

Does this guy not even notice what's happened recently??
Does he know that Missouri State has lost 4 of their last 6 Valley games including a couple drubbings, and barely escaped at home with an OT win over the team he has ranked 6th?

and does he know that ISU has won on the road only ONCE in the Valley - and that was at winless Evansville?

Another writer (WCF Courier) weighs in :

Sports writer Kelly Beaton ranks the Valley, one through 10:

1. Northern Iowa (16-2, 7-1 MVC; 18 RPI)
- The Panthers have shot just 26.3 percent on 3-pointers in their last five games.

2. Wichita State (17-3, 6-2 MVC; 45 RPI)
- Four of the Shockers' next six games are on the road.

3. Illinois State (14-5, 5-3 MVC; 121 RPI)
- Has there ever been a more schizophrenic, up-and-down scorer than Osiris Eldridge?

4. Creighton (9-10, 4-4 MVC; 125 RPI)
- Don't count Creighton out yet, especially if they start shooting better than 32 percent on 3s.

5. Southern Illinois (10-7, 3-5 MVC; 154 RPI)
- The Salukis are starting to distribute the ball better (14.9 assists per game) and gel.

6. Missouri State (14-5, 4-4 MVC; 63 RPI)
- Coach Cuonzo Martin has lamented the Bears' poor shot selection of late.

7. Indiana State (11-8, 3-5 MVC; 86 RPI)
- Sunday's home game with UNI could be a season-saver for the Sycamores.

8. Drake (9-11, 4-4 MVC; 206 RPI)
- Transfer Ryan Wedel (11.7 ppg) gives Drake hope despite Craig Stanley's wrist injury.

9. Bradley (9-9, 4-4 MVC; 88 RPI)
- Believe it or not, the once porous Braves' ???D' showed up last week, allowing 54 ppg.

10. Evansville (6-12, 0-8 MVC; 271 RPI)
- The Aces are last in the league in five stats, including free-throw percentage (68.2).
