Jaquan Johnson in the portal

Field of 68 is reporting bully intends to enter the portal, good luck to him but think he will struggle if he moves up to the HM level

likely to happen to some degree to every MVC team....but the ones at the top seem to get it the most
becasuse they have the best plaeyrs other teams want to poach...
He finishes his career with 818 career point - good for 85th best in Bradley history

Lose Alex, AJ, Corey Thomas & Meta to graduation
Lose Jaquan, Monatana, Burch, Yu & Handy to transfer...
so - 9 scholarships vacated, three already filled for next year (Kowalczyk, Thirnbrue, Noah Williams)

I expect to see a few guys being offered soon......

The days of buying into a system might be over...what's the point?....if the goal is to stand out and get paid and move on...what's the real motivation here?

Bust your A$$ and sacrifice just for the committee not to invite you to their tournament...might as well get yours and get the 💰

It's not my intention to sound rude, but I think some of you guys ought to just log off for awhile and decompress. I mean, seriously, never have a four year player again?

We literally last season graduated:
Darius Hannah (played all 5 years at BU)
Connor Linke (5 years at BU)

I'd also put Meta in the category from this season because while he came in mid season, he played all 3 1/2 seasons of his full career at BU.

I find this stuff frustrating, too, but I'd recommend just taking a deep breath. Like, some of everyone's favorite players in the past half decade weren't four year players.

Duke only played 3 years
Malevy - 3 years
Christian Davis - 3 years
Mast - 3 years

Do you truly look back at any of those three guys and go, man, I liked him, but man, he was only here three years, that's just not enough and it wrecks my opinion of him?

You can have legendary status at BU (or be remembered really positively) without being some 4-year freshman who is grown and we find some way to make them stay the whole way.

I am not trying to convince any of you to not be upset, but just know that anyone who leaves turned their back on BU and the next Duke/Darius could be right around the corner. I mean, those guys absolutely could have left but they were class and stayed the whole way. Do we have such short memories to forget them from literally just one season ago?

Things will start feeling better when the roster starts filling up again.

Things are changing. Money is talking and Wardle seems to be losing whatever edge kept the roster together (more or less) the past 3 seasons. All it'll take is one rough season to knock our foundation as a perennial conference contender loose. I have a feeling we're due for some real ugly ball in Peoria over the next few years.

That being said, this move makes Montana's decision to transfer look even stupider - I think this leaves the door open for him to return. I don't think a single better team than Bradley would give him more $ or runway as a starter than we would next year.

Agree and it definitely is hard to look at players the same way because they just left for the money. The staff trained them to be better players only to help them leave early for more money.

I’m done with college basketball. Absolute joke.
I am teetering on the edge as well. Had a long break of not attending games during the Ford/Glasser years (08' grad myself), then starting going again some when I had kids to take them, got pretty into it since 2018ish again. My interest level has cratered, I only made it to 2 games I think this year, it just isn't fun when guys aren't here for more then a year most of the time anymore, at least not any great players.

1. College Basketball is like pro sports today. Root for the front of the jersey and not the back.
2. SI.com has a great story on interviewing the coaches in the East Regional, and navigating the Transfer Portal.
3. In another post on Bradley Fans, read the X post from Connor Hickman.

What the reality is now with the portal and NIL ....mid majors are really just a leveled up JUCO with any player with some talent leaves for big money 💰 💰💰 and exposure....period!
Add in every player who deems he is not getting enough PT also leaves?🤔🤔🤔🤡🤡🤡
So in a sense who you gonna get to coach up and improve with 10 new players every year?🤬🤬🤬🤬

Its not an overreaction in my opinion. The transfer portal is only maturing and solidifying along with NIL. Combined with the fact the COVID holdover players are gone, it is an entirely new game. Its basically been half a decade since the four players you listed arrived at the Hilltop. If you can't see what is happening you are in for a rude awakening.

With all the money floating around… players almost have no choice but to go. Instead of focusing on being a student athlete, a good teammate, and becoming a man, they are expected now by all those around them to go get the money. This player mobility will continue to undercut fan interest overall in the sport. And isn’t good for the young men either. Read Connor Hickman’s assessment. Hard to watch this happen.
