Jank on K-State list

It's also being reported that Jankovich had a 2nd interview yesterday for the Tulsa job. 3 finalits for that job appear to be Jankovich, Kansas assistant Danny Manning, and University of Central Oklahoma coach Terry Evans.

Tulsa? Wow, that is a surprise. Tulsa seems like more of a sideways move...I don't get it.

It's a sideways move, but potentially into a much stronger conference if the MWC and CUSA merge. Still a lot of bad teams potentially at the bottom of this possible new "super conference", but the top half could be really strong.

Tulsa would've been a step up 2 days ago, when the merger was still on.

Reports out of those camps are that they're slowing their roll because they couldn't get some waivers with the NCAA. They would have only one autobid (they were hoping for 2) and that they'd lose some exit fees if they dissolved either conference.

Darn, you mean we cannot merge 5 conferences, keep the 5 autobids then kick out the riff-raff?

I must be really disconnected on the level of SMU job.

I heard Buzz from Marquette, and now Jank. It seems like a step down for Jank, and a huge step down for Buzz. Am I off on them?

At worst, there may be a volleyball player or two at SMU interested in becoming player development coordinator..:twisted:

SMU is a big step up from ISU, Dallas compared to Bloomington-Normal plus 2 million a year in salary , that would be hard to turn down.

with the talk of Jankovich making a jump somewhere else...he was mentioned for the Tulsa job, as well as K-State, and now might be a serious candidate for SMU...Even if he does not want to go elsewhere - almost all head coaches are going to use the talk of other offers and other interest to try to get more from their current employer - more $$ and more years of contract security...it is a given.......

So ....... the ISU administration faces a tough choice...do they make a big counter-offer - a big raise and extension to try to keep him at ISU???

Remember - Jank's best success came with the holdover players from Porter Moser - and even then he fall short of the NCAA and were routinely one-and-done in the NIT..

Now the past two years with his own players - he's 33-33 overall and 13-23 in Valley play -
... and he still has never made the NCAA..
so does this deserve a big raise and extension? That's the tough question the ISU admins have to face...
