did someone over there hurt your feelings? It seems very much that you are trying to lump all ISU fans into the same category, but I can assure you that not all of us are like that, just as not all of you are like that as well. The only difference between you and me right now is that I am willing to give Bradley Fans the benefit of the doubt. I have mad respect for Bradley and their fans. Many good friends of mine have attended BU.

I am all for a little heckling back and forth because it is a rivalry, however, I do agree that there are some on both sides who seem to cross the boundaries a little too much.

I hope Bradley has a great non-con just as I hope ISU does because it is great for the valley. As DanneyCooksey mentioned, it has been a while since both teams have been able to put highly competitive teams on the floor the same year. This year is definitely one of those years and I am looking forward to some great basketball on both ends.

Tornado. I welcome an outsiders perspective on ISU's squad. It helps sometimes to keep yourself in check and to keep yourself from overreacting to thinking you have the best squad in the valley. I see that you look at other boards as I do for a lot of the same reasons, minus the DUI's and whatnot. Obviously each teams own message board are going to have a beat on how each team is looking this season. It's nice to hear what the fans think sometimes other than what you read in the paper. I'm sorry that there are some ISU fans out there that attack Bradley, but please keep in mind that not all of us are like that, just as not all of you are either.

I don't spend much time looking at other boards, unlike the many ISU fans that frequent BradleyFans.com.
You asked for some guidance in understanding how fans react in such partisan ways, and I merely suggested you look to a source where there is far more of that than here.

Why is it so important for the multitude of ISU fans to hover constantly here, and jump immediately on anyone who hurts your feelings?

Why is it impossible for you ISU fans to understand that this is a Bradley fans board, and people here are not going to love the Redbirds with the same passion that people on redbirdfan do?

Please stop getting your feelings hurt, or feeling you have to refute everything you read here. If you can't, then I suggest you stay away.
 
Hey FlipEmTheBird before you go and start a row with someone on this board I recommend you check out some of their posts. Da_Coach has to be the most grounded poster on this board. The rest of us though have to have our say and are not quite so level headed! I for one really do not care what the Redbirds do this year because their out of conference schedule regardless is going to hurt the Valley! I never head to your site not because I'm afraid someone is going to hurt my feelings. It's more that I do not have the time to let alone be on this board but any other one would just be pathetic use of my time, especially the Redbirds.

According to DanneyCooksey, that's not going to happen this year.....

Then again, we are picked to finish in the bottom half of the Valley this year, so he's probably right. :roll:

I don't quite understand where all the "we finally will have 2 competitive teams on the floor" attitude.

I've looked at the past 16 seasons (cause that is as far as Jerry Palm's RPI data goes and I am a subscriber to his site).

I guess Bradley wasn't considered "competitive" in the past couple seasons while ISU went to the NIT? But in those last two seasons, we've split the games by winning on home floors with a combined total of 13 points (in 4 games :-o). That's pretty competitive basketball IMO.

So I just don't get the whole "we FINALLY have 2 competitive teams on the floor".

Come on LG where's the sport as long as they behave civil I like the banter! It just will be that much sweeter when we beat their a$$. i still remember how sweet it was when we beat KU in the NCAA.
 
I travel quite a bit and log in from my blackberry all the time.

Having to scroll through their drivel (on my tiny screen) to get to the "content" is beyond annoying. Especially when all the majority of them do is come here to pick a fight with Tornado. (Why they have this obsession is beyond me.)

Alas, all are welcome on this site (unlike others)...so I suppose I'll just suck it up.

Cooksey - as far as I'm concerned, you're an ok fella in my book. You usually have something to contribute and I feel you are atleast marginally fair in calling a spade a spade.

Besides, I remember how much smack everyone was talkin when they had beat Creampuff and Cupcake U on the way to 12-0 and then came in here and got b*tch slapped...

Glad you are reading a great msg board Guth. Yep......I feel that way and I stand by it and it has nothing to do with pre-season rankings. I couldn't care less where you or the Birds are predicted in October. I'm simply confident in my team. Shouldn't all fans be??

Hmmmm. Wasn't that a 3-4 point margin at the final horn?? To my best recollection the game wasn't determined until the final seconds. If that's a b*tch slap in your book I'd love to see your explanation of a close game.

I guess the Birds 4 point win in RA was a total evisceration of the bu squad? :)

I am only going to rebuttle with fact. Remember that? I guess our creampuff schedule prepared us to finish better than BU.

I think it was more of the fact that your players were talking about an undefeated season after playing cupcakes -you walk into Carver, against a BU team without it's top returning scorer, while students are on break, and lose....

NO NO NO

I was referring to ISU finally being competitive again the last 2 years after being terrible for most of this decade. To bu's credit they have been competitive for most of the last 10 years. For the 1st time in many years (in my world anyway) both programs are legit Valley title contenders at the same time and that hasn't often been the case of late.
