As was previously announced, Bradley's tennis coach has left-

And there have been reports that the University may be dropping the women's tennis program.
However, now they are advertising for a new tennis coach-

Universities all over the country are dropping sports. In the last 6 months, at least 191 NCAA non-revenue sports have been eliminated or downgraded.

In 1998, Missouri dropped men’s tennis. In 2001, Kansas dropped men’s tennis. In 2006, Colorado dropped men’s tennis. All still have women’s tennis. It was not stated, but understood that they had to balance out the number of women’s athletic scholarships with the men’s and football was a revenue sport needing at lot of scholarships

yes, football requires a little ingenuity from the schools to "balance" the scholarships so as not to get Title IX violations, fines, scholarship reductions and other sanctions

Here's a couple examples-

-Some schools tried to give scholarships for cheerleading and then count those as going to women for balance against the numerous football scholarships, but NCAA ruled that cheerleading, altho offered as a "competetive sport" by some schools, is NOT an officially recognized NCAA sport. The schools tried to sue, but lost

EIU came up with an idea - offer women's rugby as a varsity scholarship sport just to help offset the men's numbers of football scholarships! Extremely few schools offer women's rugby and EIU was really never serious about it, as they were using it as a gimmick.. They even advertised statewide & on their website that absolutely NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WAS NECESSARY! In other words, if you want a scholarship, even if you've never heard of nor played rugby, just come on out for the team and you got it! - It was kind of a scam and they did lure a few women for a few years--
They even tried desperately to play with only half a squad on the field! when numbers dwindled-

...then they finally shuttered the whole program

Yes, for a number of years, there have been colleges offering scholarships to women in sports like badminton and rowing, and they advertise that no experience is needed.

Recall that some Hollywood stars' got caught getting their academically unqualified kids into prestigious schools like USC on scholarship by paying bribes and pulling strings to get them rowing scholarships-
