Billy Cole gets his first start and plays 24 minutes...
he had 4 pts, 4 rebs.........

Devan Bawinkel, who the PJStar just had a front page story on calling him
Iowa's "designated 3-point shooter, the zone buster who can stetch the defenses with his shooting range."
http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x1689190950/Iowa-senior-relishes-his-role-as-team-s-designated-shooter

Bawinkel didn't exactly bust Illinois, and was only 1-4 from 3pt range...bringing his season totals to 17-48 (35.4%), and career pct. to 33.6%...pretty much precisely what Billy Cole's 3-pt shooting numbers are...

At least it's a win for Illinios.....will Cole continue to start??

Bill Cole...what a waste...

Guy could've come to a Valley team and not had to wait 2 1/4 years just to get some quality PT.

But hey, I guess if you want to waste the better part of your college eligibility just to play at U of I then so be it

Think about what you said and think about our current players. I would like for us to have Bill Cole, he's having a good year and playing a big roll.

You think his dad and sister playing at U of I had anything to do with his decision?

I don't recall Stephanie playing anything there...

And MJ played basketball at North Carolina...I don't recall either of his sons playing there...

Also, I don't recall Bill being asked to play football at U of I...

Hmm...

I have heard reliably that Bill grew up a big Illini fan because his dad did indeed play there and is also a big fan...so Bill remained loyal.
in fact, I have often considered Bill Cole as one of the excellent examples (although few) of a good kid who knew where he wanted to go to play in college, and who didn't play the game and barter his verbal to the highest bidder or to the "biggest offer".
Most recruits care little for loyalty and just take the "best offer".

I thoroughly enjoyed "playing the game" as you called it...

Which reminds me...

I think its time for a change from the Under Armor theme...I am voting for the intro from "The Game" Triple H....maybe someone will know what I am talking about.

Soccer. At least she went there with intentions to play soccer. Injuries may have prevented that, now that I think about it.

I'm not saying EVERYONE kid whose parents plays a sport at a school MUST attend that school, but it's a highly plausible reason for why he would attend a particular school despite having to sit for 2-plus years to get playing time.

Your last comment is as relevant and Ruffin's legal issues being in a story updating injuries during his senior season.

well if we are going to follow that same relevancy concept...
then it needs to be brought up that Bill Cole played high school ball with Jamar Smith, and Jamar Smith was arrested for....
oh, never mind, now I am getting too much like a local newspaper writer...
