I knew it was bad at home, but...

BU Grad MBA MA

I am a long-time season ticket holder and I knew that it seemed that under Les' control BU basketball has not seemed to be dominate on its home court. That was just a feeling because I don't come home and etch a mark on something when they lose to keep track.

In today's BU article in the Journal Star I was reminded of course that we are currently under a 3 game skid, but that in the 2007-08 season we had a 5 game losing streak at home, and in 2003-04 a 4 game losing streak at home. We have also lost several single home games that I know of.

I remember the days when we were one of the hardest teams around to beat at home, and that was not all that long ago. Didn't Mo's team have a long winning streak at home (although Mo couldn't seem to win at all on the road)?

Well, I think it is a disgrace and I sure hope that his bosses are well aware of the situation when it comes time to assess him at the end of the year. That's sending a lot of paying fans home unhappy a lot of the time. Not good... No, not good at all.

The previous two losing streak coincided with an injury. Two years ago it was Ruffin's injury that produced some terrible games. Back in Coach Les' second year, it was Phillip Gilbert that went down at the end of the Pepperdine game.

So, what you are saying is we have a coach that it takes several games to adjust to an injury? More games to adjust that the actual losing streaks because BU surely had some road games in between. I may be wrong, but when Parker and Zobrist went down BU still won most of their home games.

I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to get Les' back with the old injury excuse.

Agreed. Everyone has injuries. While everyone may not have had injuries quite as significant as ours, good programs can at least hold serve at home while dealing with injury problems. Heck, Creighton lost a potential All-American for the entire season in 2005-2006 and still managed a 12-6 league record and 19-9 overall. If we're as talented and deep as we say and think we are, well, then we should be able to overcome injuries and at the very least weather the storm. So either the players aren't good enough, or...;)

You forgot to mention that Jim Les hasn't finished higher than 4th place in the MVC.:D

No, that's not what I was saying. I think you read way too much into my post. I was just jogging your memory since you said you had to be reminded.

Bradley looked really bad when Parker went down. You will see a string of L's then W's in 1997.

BradleyBrave, I love your signature line. Man, that says it all.

He should have said: "I envision perenial 4th-7th place finishes with the hope that someone will start new post-season tourneys so I can pad my record and make things will appear better than they are... kind of like like putting new wheels on an old 70's AMC Gremlin--The shine will blind them."

Sorry, I did misinterpret your post. My apologies and thanks for the memory jolt... I need it. Good day, sir.

JL is a great recruiter, just give Jim Les more time, BU went to the NCAAs in 2005, injuries/injuries/injuries, Jim Les needs time to learn to be a good coach, BU has had no practice facilities, JL is a nice guy, JL played in the pros, JL can/will recruit Chicago, BU has a great graduation rate, BU player troubles are normal and not as bad as other schools, NCAA violations were bogus, we don't want to start over again with a coach who isn't a BU guy, JL just needs more time, don't worry about no recruits signed last fall, the NCAA is out to get BU and its recruits, wait till next year, help is on the way, our players just need more experience, BU just needs better assistant coaches, W-L or titles aren't everything, anyone who doesn't think JL is the best thing for BU since Squeaky isn't a REAL BU FAN like the rest of us

Sorry Coach - There is more than one broken record on this Forum

Bingo! This forum is full of broken records...no doubt about that.

Les is not going anywhere unless JG and/or the new AD change their minds. What good is this constant grumbling going to do to help the team get off the snide? As long Les is around the least we can do is give him the support he and his team needs. If this team tanks within the next year or two (by tanking, I mean 8th place type finishes), I'm sure the "higher powers" at Bradley will reevaluate the situation. But gettng rid of him mid-season will not do anyone any good. Period!

Let's give him our support, at least for the rest of this year and next. Les has done well the last few years. I'm sure he'll turn things around soon.
