AT not playing major minutes right now is borderline criminal. I'm not at practice, but I know what I see talent-wise and I know what I see (and don't see) in the games. Unless JL is trying to run this kid off, he should be getting major minutes right now, every game from here on out.

I didn't catch it, but does anyone know why Coach Les substituted AT in for DC like two minutes into the game? After that, I assumed Thompson would get quite a bit of playing time.
I think the 3 offensive rebounds came during the same possession where AT would miss a layup, get the rebound, miss the put back attempt, get the rebound...
I also do not think that AT is solid enough to set a screen. I know he has gained weight since he got here and is working hard but he is getting pushed around by guards and if a big man can't set a screen he can't be in the game.

We never run pick-and-roll anyways even if the big is by himself in the lane, so who cares if he can't screen? Personally, I think he can screen just fine. Our guards missed him several times as he rolled to the basket.
That series where AT kept getting his own rebound is proof positive that he should be on the floor regularly. DC couldn't react like that if he was in the gym alone, and I doubt Singh could jump high enough to continue to get his own rebound. The only guys that can do that on this roster are TW and TB. AT is 6'10" and lefthanded and can do that. He's got a lefthanded hook shot that can't be blocked. Tell me again why this kid can't play on this awful team?

I don't recall Collins ever having done this in the year + he has been here...
Can't we just chalk it up to needing to get AT lots more time because this season is going nowhere and Collins won't be here next year?

Look at this picture. AT can be this eventually if we want him to be and use him right. Bayo was just as skinny as AT when he got to BU, and here's proof positive. The way we're using AT right now is impeding his progress. I want to see from AT what I see below.

I really thought Collins was the best option for some time, but now I don't think he is even the best option in terms of winning immediately, let alone thinking about Thompson's possible future. I would be really curious to see, if anyone had the numbers, the scoring margins last night when Collins was in, when Thompson was in, and when it was just Brown and Wilson. During the stretch from 8:02 to 5:48 in the first half when UWM ran off 15 straight Collins was in and in addition to his two turnovers he missed two rebounds that he should have had easily.

I am agreeeing with you.
I just want to point out how I personally think the game of NCAA Div1 College Hoops has changed in the past ten years and how the MVC has tried to grow with it. IMO - everything has gone to "another level".
I think he does need to play, it's the only way he will develop. And I definitely dont want him to go anywhere else. I just worry about him getting eaten alive by some of the Valleys bigger post players. Although at this point it seems like its a choice of either giving up inches or pounds in the post.

From what I saw there at the game, Collins was Bradley's best and worst big guy. When he's doing well he can hit a shot and definitely influence some bad ones on the interior defense.
But, he almost single-handedly gave Bradley no chance to make a second half comeback when he was constantly dropping rebounds because he always pulls the ball down to shorter defenders.
Unfortunately we see too much "Jackie" Collins and not enough David Collins.
AT is still weak but he's certainly got potential and there's no reason he shouldn't be getting 15 minutes a game.
Les is going to have to learn how to play the hot hand with this team of streaky and inconsistent players. Sometimes Collins is good ... many others he isn't.

Maybe DC and AT should play together in some sort of internal 'zone' so they could help each other and give us at least some accidental defense and an internal rebounding effort. I was amazed at how easily the UWM 6'7" 304 lb fat boy out worked us inside - in fact why can't we recruit a kid like that - was he even on scholarship? In fact I saw a couple of fat kids in our student section that might play as well as our current bigs - maybe we should be scouting the intramural games for 'fat boy' talent.
In defense of DC, it must be extremely difficult for him to play within this 4 guard 'smurf' system. If there was an ounce of patience or disciplin on this team he might actually be more productive, otherwise if we're going to just run around like a 'nut squad' we might as well give up the post and play all guards - actually Roberts, Wilson or Brown give us the ability to have all five players flying around out of control to cause confusion and havoc - if that's our objective!
Does anyone know the objective?

And it hasn't been a disaster so far?
It certainly has... But I would rather have AT out there with a mentor in SS than paired with the train wreck that is DC.

I really believe our guards do not want to give either Collins or AT the ball on the screen roll. The only person who ever sees the ball on the roll to the basket is Singh. The guards know two things about Singh, he can score off the pass and they also know he will give them the ball back on a pass out of that roll.
They know that neither Collins or AT can pass the ball back or are often able to control the ball enough to score off that roll.
I keep saying it but I really do not believe that Collins' teammates trust him as a basketball player in many situations, but especially when it comes to giving him the basketball while he is moving. They know it is a recipe for disaster and it also means they are not seeing that ball again even if they are open.
