How beatable is Rutgers?

The scarlet knights already lost to Kansas State. The Wildcats are never a real powerhouse in basketball. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe star player Quincy Douby graduated. Barring some type of meltdown, this should be an easy game. Plus, this is basically a home game for BU in comparison to Rutgers. Unfortunately, not much of an RPI booster for Bradley.

I think they're probably somewhere between UIC or DePaul. We should be able to beat them, but nothing is a given. I like our chances with Ruffin, not so much without him.

Rutgers will start players 2-3" taller at each position over the Braves.

They have a 7' freshman.

Douby and his all-world stats are gone. (but maybe some addition by subtraction... more of a team effort now?)

I was ALWAYS told by Illini fans when UIUC plays at the UC it is NOT basically a "home" game for them, it is a neutral court... but when UIUC plays someone like Arkansas at a neutral site in Little Rock it is DEFINITELY a ROAD game. :roll:

Bradley might have a little advantage with the crowd, but I think most people that bought tickets for this aren't too concerned with the 5:00pm game on Friday. Obviously, neither team is familiar with the Sears Centre.

Douby was selected in the first round of the draft. I think he left early. He had some gaudy statistics. He had a few games last year where he was the team.

Rutgers has a nice home court advantage at the RAC. Like most teams, they have trouble winning on the road.

Looking at their stats so far, they have a 6'9" sophomore named JR Inman that has scored 17 and 15 in the two games. He was on the all-big east rookie team.

Regarding Rutgers, here is some advanced scouting info--

I don't think we'll see a lot of their 7' freshman. He is a little rough like our Saihou Jassey is, but with a lot of upside. He is from Senegal by way of a California Prep School--

Their starting 5 are are 6'9" soph forward JR Inman (leads them with 16.0 ppg), 6'8" senior forward Adrian Hill (8.0 ppg), 6'7" soph guard/forward Jaron Griffin (7.5 ppg), 6'1" soph guard Anthony Farmer (5.0 ppg), and 6'5" senior guard Marquis Webb (5.5 ppg). and their top sub is 6'8" junior forward Ollie Bailey (from Chicago Farragut- 7.0 ppg and a team-leading 5.0 rpg). They play a lot of big bodied kids. They could be vulnerable to the quicker style Bradley plays, as long as Bradley can hit their shots. If not, Rutgers should win a rebounding battle.

One thing of interest that I got from reading some comments on their message board is that their 6'9" power forward, JR Inman, likes to play on the perimeter. I don't know if he would against BU since he'll have a sizable advantage on anybody, but he doesn't sound like a bruiser. From the little I gathered, it sounds like he wants somebody a little slower of foot like Matt Salley or Sam Singh to guard him since most big guys don't defend the perimeter very well.

When Rutgers played Kansas State, the leading rebounder was a 6'5" 190 lbs guard from KSU with 13 rebounds. He averaged 2.4 rpg the year before. This sounds like a game that Bradley can win the battle of the boards. Obviously, the hustle has to be there to do that.

You are right on the starting 5. I was guessing they start N'Diaye at Center (sorry, only 6'11 and not 7', my mistake).

Looks as if they go 8 deep. The starting 5 you mentioned with Bailey, Nelson and N'Diaye getting the most minutes off the bench.

N'Diaye has 8 blocks in 2 games so far.
Farmer leads with 5 steals and Inman has 3 (in 2 games )

Rutgers is 8/34 from the 3 (23.5%).
FT% = 64.8% as a team
Assists/Turnovers = 18/24

Uggghhhh! Those are some ugly stats.

Talk about ugly, they had 14 of their 18 assists against a pitifully poor St. Thomas Aquinas team.
Against Kansas State, the only Div I they have played, they had only 4 assists and 15 turnovers. Rutgers' shooting percentage was 19% for the game and that was on their home court!

I thinking Da Bravess could hold them to single digits.
