Here's what you're up against

Memphis would win your conference!

Is that how it works? The UVa fans were teaching me how to talk smack like the big boys do, but it seemed really complicated.

Next up, they teach our guys how to play ACC-style defense. I can't wait to see it.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but one of the reasons we're in the CBI is because we played ACC-style defense a little too much this year. How is it we can let Cavel Witter look like a star, but hold Singletary under his average?

OK-- I'll bite on this one....I am going to assume ctt8410 is a Tulsa guy but I have to admit, posting that Youtube video isn't much of a way to tout your team...
you guys got humiliated in that game against Memphis.

In fact, your team (if you are a Tulsa guy) looked pretty hapless against Memphis....they really skunked you!!
I kinda shut that Youtube video off when their lead got to 31, but ctt....maybe you don't know this, but...

Bradley has also played Memphis in a post season tournament recently...
It happened when Memphis was a #1 seed and a Top-4 ranked team in the entire nation on 3/23/06.

We actually played them in the NCAA....and although they beat us as well, they sure didn't skunk us like they skunked you guys.
In fact, Bradley played pretty tough against them and actually hung within a few points until deep into the 2nd half.
It was still a 7 point game until BU ran out of steam in the final 10 minutes, and the final score was nowhere near the 30-40 point blowout you guys suffered at their hands in your conference tourney.

So--- remind me of the point you were trying to make??

I BELIEVE he was poking fun at the UVA fans, not actually talking trash...

Me too.... I thought it was funny. ;)

(but I didn't watch the video - getting beat by 31 would be something I would hide ona tall shelf in the back of a room)

Or perhaps a valiant attempt by a BU fan to bring the luck of Kansas, and now Virginia to Tulsa? :p

Sorry. After reading through Virginiahoop's thread, I just couldn't resist. It's amazing sometimes how much smack the big conference schools will talk to us despite having every advantage imaginable right now in college athletics.

In defense of my team, that game against Memphis started at 10:30AM on Saturday the day after our second consecutive OT game ended at 8:30pm. That's 14 hours to rest and prepare for a team with 2 NBA 1st rounders.

I won't show the video to my grandkids, but I think fans of CUSA teams have to have a self-deprecating sense of humor right now regarding that Memphis team. Their talent level from 1-10 is just unreal. Plus, we did hold them to their lowest point total of the year earlier this season.

Anyways, it's just good natured fun. Thanks for not taking me too seriously.

Oh, one more thing. I made sure to watch your game against UVa on Wednesday. Holding Singletary to 17 points, half of which came in junk time, while his jersey is already hanging in the rafters? That was fun to watch.

Haha you're getting right into the spirit of this board. However, the UVA fan posted the best games of the year for his team, not the worst! Memphis might be able to compete in the Valley though ;)

I think that's what made the post so funny...rather than post the highlights, post a video of the team getting drubbed. Its like going onto a Tulsa board and saying "here's what you're up against" and posting a video of the UIC or UNI game at home.

Great post ctt8410, you're welcome here anytime!

It's the CBI . . . nobody here is without some blemishes. Hope you don't find the tape of our losses to Hampton and OU. Those were brutal. After the OU loss, some fans on the board started referring to Wojcik as "Ojick . . . because there is no W." We turned things around.

I drove all night after we beat UTEP in the semis around 8:30 pm, the day before we played Memphis. The team looked more tired than I was and I had even found a bar on Beale Street that was open at 9:00 AM. It was the fourth game in four days, we had eight guys, and while it seemed like we got more open looks than usual, nothing went in. Their guards were hot. Rose went off in that game. There's a defensive play he makes in the second half that's one of the four or five best things I've ever seen.

We played Memphis better the last couple of years, including a barn burner there when they were a #1 seed in '06 and we were a really bad team. I think this year's team is much better. They are incredibly fast and never quit attacking. They have suspect free throw shooting and I seriously question whether Dozier is legitimate. I do have them in my Final Four, though.
