BU is down 36 to 24.

Couple very interesting items. I tracked BU defensive stops. They were 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, and 2. Interesting we never got more than 3 possessions. However, our problem was not D but our shooting. BU missed 7 shots within about 6 feet..

Geno called three timeouts in about 1 minute to go over defense.

Glad to see that Geno's patience is wearing thin. I was hoping he would use all the timeouts in the first half!

At the end of the day this team can not score on a consistent basis against good defensive teams..need to get rid of about 5 players and give him 5 schollys for next year and they can get better quicker..otherwise you are losing a good scorer and still have no shooters so next year may look the same as this...hard to believe some of these guys are on scholarship.

Exactly. It's easy to get hyped up about players here, but the more I have objectively looked at this team this year it is apparent that outside of a few guys the talent is just not there. Geno needs to do what he has to do to get some better players here.
 
14:42 to play. Cut it to 9. Currently have 4 straight stops.

However, we have 3 missed shots inside of 2 feet. Including 2 missed layups
 
the quick time outs were to stop the game and STERNLY instruct those who were missing defensive assignments
..glad to see we're getting a little tougher when we are not doing what we're supposed to do...just maybe it paid of..

Disagree...I am not looking for quick fix...steady improvement....no need to jettison players...some may leave anyway...
 
Ben- other than the tumblers, the HOF inductions, or Quick Change - why would you ever stay and watch the halftime stuff?
 
Today was one step in a positive direction. Just like I will not panic about losses, I am not going to overreact to this W.

A great W, but still one game.

Hopefully they build off of it.

We need some players though....we don't have enough to be consistent IMO.

TB has to have a good game or we can't beat a good team....

Maybe this deserves its own thread, I don't know.....I have heard this comment around town a lot and I have read versions of it on this board and others. IMO its not going to happen.

No way that many players would have their scholarships taken. If that type of thing happened at Bradley or any other school their would be major damage done to their APR number that the NCAA monitors. In addition, other school would surely use that info against us when dealing with future recruits.

The NCAA just adopted new and stricter standards for schools/coaches to abide by. These new standards take effect for the 2012-13 season. The number schools must now meet is a 930. That is basically a 50% graduation rate. The old number was 925. So for example.....if a coach brings in 3 scholarship players 2 years in a row, 3 of them must both stay in school AND graduate to meet the NCAA minimum standards. Every year, the school generates a new APR number and that is averaged in your overall number for 4 years. So....if we were to lose multiple players after this season, for any reason (not renewed or they chose to leave), the APR hit would stay with us for 4 years. The penalties include lost scholarships and no NCAA post season play. Some may argue we won't be in any post season games anyway but that is a different argument.

In my opinion that is way to much of a risk because of all the unforeseen problems that will pop up in the future with players/recruits. Players leave schools all the time for many other reasons: injury, playing time issues, mistakes, home sick, etc. A coach/school can deal with losing a player or 2 occasionally and still be fine as long as the other scholarship players in that class, and the previous 3, take of business in the classroom. A mass exodus of 5 or more in a season.....no way.

Did they say on the post game what zone they were playing? It looked more like a 1-3-1 at times but at one point in was strung out like a 1-2-1-1 (more like a diamond and one if a full court press). It was awkward, but obviously affective. It looked like a zone specifically for a team like UNI that heavily relies on the three point shot.
