I did some checking...
one thing I notes was that every season...going all the way back to his years at UNI, McDermott tends to play just 5 or 6 main players and everyone else gets the leftover minutes..
2009-2010 - 5 guys averaged between 26 mpg & 35 mpg...only one other guy gets more than 16 mpg
in his last years at UNI...same thing...
only 6 players got more than 8 mpg...
Now maybe that's what he had to do to win....that's not my point, but what I think it does is create a LOT of dissent and
unhappiness when you carry 13 scholarship players and 7 or 8 of them are simply never getting any decent minutes, even in blowouts.....
I compared to BU's stats last year...and even while we were "shorthanded" with one player (Dodie) done for the season,
and two more who began the season on redshirts - statistically seven players averaged 20 mpg or more and
ELEVEN averaged 8 mpg or more...
Dana had 11 of his guys averaging 13 minutes per game or MORE!!....so the McDermott era in Omaha is not going to set well
with some of the players who are hoping to retain their playing time!
I think this tendency Mac has always had to play just a small core group most of the minutes hurts him in two ways...
While at UNI it was always obvious that they tuckered out in the stretch run...then generally petered out in the tourney and lost their only post-season tourney game.

Then the second offshoot is all the unhappy guys who think they should be playing more.......You have to get those guys some PT and you can't be oblivious to that...
I checked many of the UNI box scores from the McD era, and even in 30 pt blowouts, only 5-6 players got any significant playing time...
