In my opinion Mr. Vonachan is a legend in Peoria sports history, and a reminder that non-athletes can have a huge role in athletics. Coaches, administrators, fans, team owners, broadcast and print media, and others can greatly influence outcomes and the enjoyment of athletics in general.
I can give no greater example of this than of Pete's dear friend Harry Caray, who certainly gave a lot of joy to many people within and outside athletics.
