Floor Time for Braves (Guards)

The more I look at this year's team, the more I like it. It happens every year, but somehow it feels legit this year  Also, I don't see how WL gets much playing time unless there are at least two injuries to our gurads. He is r/s this year IMO. Barring injury, it will be tough to sqeeze JE in for more than 5 minutes a game.

If the guards have a weakness, it is 3 pt shooting. SM and AW are the only for-sure 3 point shooters ... DSE might develop into one this year. The best argument for having TB play an under-sized 4 rather than a natural 3 is his jump shot from beyond 12 feet. If he still has aspirations to play pro ball, I hope he has worked on his outside shot this off-season.

JE played over 10 minutes a game last year...

And Dodie is the best 3-pt shooter on the team, look at his %'s... He lead the team in 08-09...

Some of the posters did not see how much better Jake played towards the end of the season or they would be giving him more minutes, also I have heard so many good things about Walter Lemon that I doubt a red-shirt is being considered , it would be a great thing to be able to do but with 2 guards coming in next season I think he plays this year.

Agreed on JE....that's why I'd like to see him play a few more minutes this season.

I don't see WL redshirting this season, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone did.

How about a red/white game similar to this, guards vs bigs lineup....
All your favorite guards on red and all bigs on white, something similar to this...

Red Team..
SM
DD
AW
JE (I saw him at the 4 once last season)
DSE (probably best suited for the 5 in this group)
WL off the bench

vs

White Team..
MK (we've been told he can dribble and pass and hit the 3)
TB (I read something, won't quote the guy, that TB and MK are the best 3 point shooters on the team)
WE
JP
AT
AD off the bench

Who would win with my just for fun lineups. Are you sure...

;)

I sincerely hope all you 3 and 4 guard line up folks are right! That BU's guards are better than other Valley teams', and, will indeed make up for the lack of size and more dominant inside defender(s) BU will face with your proposed line ups and minute distribution.

For the past several seasons we have all leaned heavily on BU's guards being better than other Valley teams' and that this would offset BU's smaller, less productive interior players. This hasn't happened as hoped. Knowing pre and post season MVC predictions aren't always accurate or unbiased, it would be more assuring if BU players and the team got more recognition by the beat writers/coaches in the MVC and other publications (vs other MVC players and teams).

The best thing about this Forum is the ability of every BU Fan (or BUFan or #1BUFan, or BigBUFan, or BradleyBasketballFan, or RealBradleyFan) to speculate/have an opinion pre-season, and then we all get to see how things turn out at the end of the season.

We can revisit this topic again in March!

Hopefully I will be eating crow (or Redbird!);-)
