Final: Utah 68 BU 60

I do not agree...Bradley was at it's best when we limit the number of passes. Late in the game when we shot quickly, we scored much more efficiently. The more we run the offense, the more we turn the ball over. It is purely a function of not having an effective point guard.
I'd rather see AW shoot more.

They don't have an offense to create open shots for guys, so AW should just shoot 25 times a game and WL should go to the basket. It's the best option for this team since they have no concept of an inside-out passing game.

Umm ok well I'm not exactly sure how a point guard helps much when you put the other team to the line 44 times in 40 minute college game or when you get lay oppotunities and miss I'm conservatively guessing miss 15.

Missing shots is one thing but playing just poor fundementials is becoming a trademark of this program. 44 free throws is a joke.

That's interesting, because Coach Les COMPLETELY disagreed with that statement on the postgame show. He said that they were "not making the extra pass" and that there were too many guys trying to do it themselves.
Coach Les also said that they had to hold the other team to the 50s in order to even have a chance to win. WHAT???
He also said that the Braves don't have enough firepower to outscore anybody. Ummmmmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you don't outscore teams you lose every time!

It is a horrible situation that the Braves are facing this year and to some extent it is beyond their control. (Nothing can be done about the injuries, but poor team construction IMO has led to no other point guard on the entire roster.) But please please please get shooters in the game. Please. I'm begging you. Milos isn't rebounding hard enough in practice? Well great you have to teach him a lesson. But when you have 43 stinking points with 3 minutes left in the game and the bombs have got to fly, Come On, Eileen! It's probably just me, but if it's gonna be a loss, I'd rather lose 90-80 than 60-50, which is what this season is setting up to be. Just my personal opinion.

We had 4 assists and 19 turnovers. I have followed BU baskeball for 43 years. Maybe that's happened before, but I would be surprised.
Many of the free throw attempts were late in the game when Bradley fouled repeatedly. A good point guard creates shots for everyone else, and that's not happening. That's why we have so many one-on-one plays.

As far as the 44 free throw attempts, in my opinion it should have been 60 or 70. Seriously. I do agree with you on one thing, Da Coach-when they basically were forced into scramble mode in the last 2 minutes, they started to score. With 5 minutes left in the game, I turned to my brother and said "they need to start fouling these big goofy stooges now." The Hack-A-Shaq technique is a legitimate strategy, and when a team is barely shooting 50% from the line, I'd use it MUCH MUCH MUCH earlier in the game when you have trailed the entire time. Another thing that bothered me was with about 40 seconds left and AW and DD had the ballhandler trapped in the backcourt in the obvious foul situation, they let him go because neither wanted to foul out. DD should have fouled-AW is clearly the ONLY Brave left that absolutely had to stay on the floor.

Still, the fact that Utah did not do so well from the line and the fact that one player accounted for half of the assists, tells me that the outcome of this game could have been different.

Also, the fact that JL called a time out not once but twice after a player made a basket killed some of the momentum the team was generating. Why do we have to pace ourselves in that regard, but we seem to fling shots that did not really get in?

I mean, Warren had 22 points, in 20 attempts.

In all fairness, I've seen a lot of coaches call TO's after quick scores, but usually late in games while trying to set up their defense. I don't think that was the real problem tonight though. Just too many easy missed shots again!

I'm not really sure what to say. What can you say. My mom always told me if you didn't have anything nice to say.........

I'm really disappointed in this team. I know it's weak to blame the coach, but I think that he's got a foot and a half out the door. It's gonna take a HECK of a Valley season to save his job now. I'll ALWAYS be a BU fan, but nobody said it was going to be a Detroit Lions thing every once in a while! lol

Has WE ever passed the ball back out....once he has it ...its going up...period! Can we install a new play called the inside/out game .....................
True, we need to get an inside out game in order to get our shooters better looks, really disappointed in Will as he seems to want to shoot every time he gets a touch, he did rim out 2 shots tonight but he just does not pass the ball enough which in effect could lead to him or a teamate getting a better shot, he seemed to play a lot harder but still believe he is the key to our team being more successful, until we get a lot better contributions in the post we are going to have trouble beating anyone.

If Utah would have shot their free throws late in the game as bad as they did earlier, we would have had a chance to pull it out. They shot them a lot better down the stretch, at least it seemed like it.

The offense seems directionless. Losing your stud point guard obviously doesn't help the fact, of course.

This team is going to have to go into Mo Mode to win games. We can't win a shootout. We need to bear down on D and win games 50-49, IMO. Obviously I hope our offense gets better, but IMO we lost our 2 best scores for the season already, and it shows.

One good thing: we continue to force turnovers at a solid rate, which will keep us at least around in most every game, and we'll win a few of those almost by accident if nothing else.

For a team that needs to work on its inside game, Duke is a horrific matchup. Our offensive execution is going to get swallowed whole in that place.

Only 4 ESPN games to go this season! Yippee.

Another reason for the 4 assists is that 3 of our starters were a whopping 3 for 19. Lemon was the only player off the bench that attempted a shot and he made 5 of 10.

Egolf, Prosser and Thompson shot 2 for 12 and 1-4 on FT's. They did keep the rebounds even but a majority of that was the beneficiary of 20 missed Utah FT's LOL. This could of easily be a -15 deficit on rebounding.

I think it was a mistake to redshirt Prosser. He looked much more aggressive and versatile in High School and had a much smoother jump shot. Now he appears timid and just doesn't have it all together. Sometimes it's not good to add all that extra weight/strength. Kind of reminds me of Singh only worse on offense.

I sure hope we get some shooters in next season. Right now it appears our only consistent shooters will be SM, TB, WL and Egolf. After next season, we lose 3 of those 4. And technically, we may only have WL and Egolf available for next season. Not sounding good at all.

On a side note, I don't think i've seen more beer consumed overall in 1 game before tonight LOL.

Some other notes...

-Utah had a nice fan base at the game. Probably at least 4+ rows behind the bench.

-Was the largest attendance of the season at 9,000 something. May not of been 9,000 but it was the largest attendance as my corner section in the upper bowl had at least 30 more people in it.

-Student section was near capacity and stayed as upbeat as they could. However, we now lose them for the long xmas break and most likely only 15-20% of them will return back for games.

But honestly, there are so few positives from this game. Call a spade a spade, this was embarrassing. Is it baseball season yet?

One positive IMHO was AW! His shooting started off a bit slow but ended up scoring a bunch and if you really watched the game you also saw someone doing a lot more then scoring. If you have an issue with Andrew please PM me and I would love a private discussion with you. If you are an AW hater you need to remove your blinder and watch the game from a perspective of someone who has played the game. He was the lone shining star of this team.

DSE needs to slow it down and if I had it my way we would run a few more simple pick and roll with him and our bigs. I'd also like to run it from both sides with WL also. I believe our bigs are mobile enough and probably would have put a bit of pressure on Utah's big.

I did like that JL made a few adjustments in our O but he needs to find how to play to our strengths. WE needs to find out how he can finish. He put himself in position to be successful but had a hard time putting the ball through the hoop. Slow down big guy and try to slam it it instead of finesse it!

I can't recall much worse of a time save for Albecks final year in all my time watching BU hoops.

Since I've only been a BU fan since '92, I asked the lady behind me tonight how this compared to the end of the Albeck era since she's had the same seat since '82. She said to just come back in February and the arena will look the same as then except with a nicer scoreboard.

They don't have an offense to create open shots for guys, so AW should just shoot 25 times a game and WL should go to the basket. It's the best option for this team since they have no concept of an inside-out passing game.

There are just too many individuals on the court trying to do the same thing...

WOW.....just watched the recording from last nights game WTVP-world....commercials ran for the 1st 18-19 minutes of recording and the game comes on in progress with the score 19-8? Thats not very good folks.....how does something like this happen? By the way..Chad Klien is doing a good job as an analyst....nothing but comments on the game and what to watch for.....an upgrade DV from IMO.

I just see very little talent from the men in suits and uniforms.....plain and simple.

We aint good...PERIOD.
Amen, best post of the YEAR. This is hard to watch. Bad weather nights will make that decision easy. Some years ago went to a game when PA Paul told everyone in the upper bowl to come sit in the lower bowl. I'll be home on nights like those this year and maybe next....????

Don't know about post of the year but its simply how I see it anymore. Nothing really left to say. I will still go becuase its BU and I will support them through the good and the bad BUT I can certainly see how many are going to start staying home......

I for one am going to just sit back and see how it all plays out. I'm tired of complaining and there really is little left to say.

I have never been so quiet and un-involved at games like this year....I want to yell...I want to get excited but last nite I was just there hoping it would end...soon.
