A couple strange findings among their rasnkings--
#7 is Bill Walker- he graduated from high school i n January and joined the Kansas State basketball team. He played well for several games, then injured his knee and will be out for many months. Yet unexplainably, he is still ranked as the #7 high school prospect.

#26 is Beas Hamga, who declared himself to be a 2007 prospect, instead of a 2008 prospect when Decatur Christian announced they were discontinuing their basketball program. The NCAA hasn't ruled on this yet. But he wasn't even rated this high as a Class of 2008 prospect.

Craig Brackins suffered a severe knee in jury at the beginning of the season, and didn't play again. He did little to justify remaining at #20.

Manual Cass is still rated #102. Did he play this past year? I thought he was ruled ineligible?

Classic effect of being pursued hotly by the BIG BOYS during the frenzied late signing period.

Likewise, #30, Cole Aldrich was injured, but even when he wasn't played less than impressively in a few post season all star games.
But the fact that he is going to Kansas keeps his ranking at #30.

Guys like Manny Harris, E'Twaun Moore, Nolan Smith, and Dar Tucker have all risen since signing with majors, and they haven't done anything "this summer" as the lead in to this story says.
Even Quinton Watkins moved up from low 100's to #90 without even playing a game in the interval, because he signed with Illinois, a Big Ten school.

Lastly, Jenniro Bush was previously a 5-STAR, Top 25 kid last winter, but now he's at #79..........
Guess who he signed with....Jackson State, does the new ranking surprise anyone?
and Darrinton Hobson hurt his ranking by going with New Mexico...he dropped from the 70's to 121.

I agree T. Those rankings are a joke. So by their logic a kid's skills erode drastically the second he inks with a non BCS school? Gimme a break.

I wonder what will happen to Shumpert's ranking if he signs with Bradley?
 
I think the rankings are generally reflective of the kid's talent, but movement up and down is apparently more based on hype than reality.

If ever there's a slam-dunk proof it is the case of Jenniro Bush.
During his recruitment last fall, he was a 3-Star prospect, but was being pursued by Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arkansas, etc...so the hype started to heat up.
Here's is proof that on August 24, 2006 and Oct. 9, 2006, he was 3-STAR.

Then when he committed to Arkansas (Feb. 9, 2007) in the middle of his high school senior season, he instantly jumped to 4-Star status as proven by this Feb. 19 article stating that he
"entered the 2007 Rivals150 for this first time"

On March 29, immediately after Stan Heath was fired at Arkansas, he announced he was reopening his recruitment, and was being pursued by several big name schools like Illinois, Arkansas, UConn, Virginia....and suddenly he's being hyped with articles like this
"Four Star Back Open"

Then he had a couple fine performances at the early AAU events, announced he was going to spend a year at prep school, and was suddenly reclassified as 5-Star.

All of a sudden, the NCAA announces new rules for prep schools, and Bush re-re-classifies back to a 2007, and surprisingly commits to Jackson State where his old AAU coach is now on the coaching staff and found a way to get the kid enrolled despite some grade issues.

"A unique player with point guard skills at 6-foot-6, 175-pounds, Bush likens his game to NBA player Shaun Livingston. He is excited about the opportunity he will have to control the ball at Jackson State.....can play 4 positions".

Now he falls to #79, although still 4-star.
scout has him as 3-Star now

Denzel Bowles was a Mark Turgeon recruit for Wichita State. When he was signed to a LOI by Wichita, he was a 2-star recruit.
When Turgeon left Wichita State to take the Texas A&M job, Bowles asked for and was granted release from the LOI. He later signed with Turgeon again at Texas A&M. Now in the new Scout Top 100 Rankings, he has jumped from a 2-star recruit, to a 4-star recruit virtually overnight (Rivals still has him as a 2-star recruit), and jumped more in the rankings than any player in America. He is now rated #63 in the country

this kid Jenniro Bush is now currently a junior at Jackson State, and the one-time 5-Star recruit is off to a good start..
After 2 years at juco and being an honorable mention juco AA, in his first exhibition game at JSU he went for 18 pts, in 19 minutes, and had 5 rebs.
In their previous exhibition, Bush was also the leading scorer with 12 pts.

Jackson State comes here on Dec. 20 to play Bradley...

I ran across some interesting stuff on Denzel Bowles - ex-MVC recruit who went on and had a great career elsewhere..

Bowles was playing in the Phillipines, and he was a true star in their spring preseason where they start in the spring playing their "Commissioner's Cup" and then they start their regular season......
- other familiar names playing in the Phillippines are -- Chamberlain Oguchi, Jamelle Cornley, and Nick Fazekas.......

Anyway - Bowles played so well in leading his B-Meg Llamados to the Cup Title...that he immediately got calls from agents who talked him into leaving the Phillippines and coming back the US where he's apparently in demand for a few of the NBA teams' summer rosters...

Bowles was the Phillipinnes Player of the Year for the Commissioner's Cup playoffs,
and has at least 3 NBA teams trying to sign him now for their training camp roster...
