Final: ISU 59 Drake 69

Down 19 points, with a little over 2 minutes to go, there are few, if any, coaches who would still have had his starters in the game at that point.
How much of a lead or deficit does it take?

By the way- Bradley has not lost a 19 point lead in 2 or 3 minutes.

Not 2 or 3 minutes, but it only took 4 for BU to turn a 10 point lead to a 6 point deficit against Western Carolina. BU led 56-46 at the 9:55 mark, and trailed 64-58 at the 5:55 mark.

I can't speak to the pressing, but rarely does a coach at the D1 level empty his bench in a losing situation especially on the road in a league game.

Normally bench emtying is a reward for the regular players and the deep reserves in a well played home game.

Whatever you need to tell yourself. Padding stats dont exactly gain the coach much. ...

don't fool yourself...coaches do whatever they need to pad their own resumes...including getting their players boosted in front of scouts..

Coaches do want to put on a show for the NBA scouts, and Jank might want to boost his recruiting prowess as well as
his future resume and make it look sweet as Ritchie McKay's when RM said he
"had previously taken a virtual unknown in Danny Granger and turned him into
a third-team All-American and MVP of the Mountain West Tournament in 2005,
leading the Indiana Pacers to select him as the 17th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft."

by the way - my rhetorical question of whether a team has ever made up 15 points in under minute,
has yet to be answered....I guess it never has...but we sure did get a whole bunch of examples of things that weren't even close...like making up a 10 lead over 4-minutes in the middle of a game...

+10 to -6 in 4 minutes = 16 to me...not 10.

10 points made up in 30 seconds with no 3-point line isn't close to 15 in 1 minute with a 3-point line? I beg to differ...

ISU was down 13 with 20 seconds to go....
If ISU was actually trying to win the game, then they'd have used their time outs....instead they used a couple between 5 min. and about a minute and a half, then gave up on that idea...
Illinois State STILL HAD their final full time out (according to the ESPN play-by-play) but all they were doing was fouling to get the ball back so someone could jack another three just 3-seconds into the shot clock..
After they decided NOT to call more time outs...ISU still fouled several times to get the ball back for at least 4 more OE shots (three of them 3-point attempts inside the final minute or so).

also -- oddly, even in the 1st half...when they were down 25-8, they still never called any time outs until 15 minutes into the game and a 17 pt deficit.

Then the ESPN play-by-play was wrong...I was watching the game live on the "U", and the Birds were out of TO's down the stretch. Since you didn't actually see the game, I guess you aren't aware of how shaky Drake looked against the press...they were able to break it most of the time, but did not look good doing so...

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Braves on their road victory at DU earlier this year.

Boy am I glad they got them at that time, that's all I can say!

And as I mentioned on an earlier thread, ISU red is completely the fraud that I thought they were! :D

At the only BU game I was in town to attend this season (SIU) they had Ryan Phillips in the game in the 1st half, and also in the 2nd half when we were trying to hang onto the lead. I remember about 1 minute of playing time and 3 personal fouls being the result...oh and a loss that may prove to be very harmful...

I'm going to go out on a limb here but I'm betting that we had a short bench for that game. Grades just came out and a few of the guys I bet did not meet expectations. JL was probably sending a message. Imagine that, a coach willing to set a high standard in the classroom over winning. I bet he had the backing of The Administration!

There is the rule of 10 for most coaches. You have the chance to come back if you are within 10 points and a minute to go! 19 points down with over 2 minutes is still a winnable game and sometimes you want to see your players fight to the end no matter what. 13 points down with 30 seconds left, that is a completely different matter. Bring on the walk-ons at that time IMO, but then again a coach maybe sending another message to the starters.

do bradley fans seep into the Illinois state boards and the Indiana state boards like they do on here? just wondering

This is the best message board in the world and with all the talk of hits and page views, it seems to be assumed all are welcome to discuss and banter... is this not the case?

That is the case but I took FWo's question more just being curious if any of us head over to their MB to banter a bit. I have in the past gone over to Drake's MB but it was boring so I never bothered going anywhere else since. I'm sure there are some on this board that monitor others and a few that especially looks through and banter on ISU(red).

The final margin was 10 pts - which is obviously closer than the game really was. I see no problem whatsoever trying to make the game look respectable since many people won't read a recap and will just take it as a 10 point loss.

Opposing crowds boo our team when we're still fouling in the last minute trying to make the final margin closer than the game really was.

I took it the same way B4L did. But I DO see the "joke" Nacho is making and I take it as that (as well). ;)

But to maybe answer the original question... and I only speak for myself. I rarely go to Redbird talk. If I do, it is usually to read what they have to say about a game (or some other breaking news) I am unable to get an update for anywhere else. I could care less to read what Redbirds fans have to say about Bradley. And I don't post there.

Same goes for Indiana State's board or any other schools board. It's very rare for me to go to any of them and if I do - it is to only get some news regarding a game or something. Not to see (and never to discuss) what they have to say about Bradley.

If I am interested in Bradley news and discussing Bradley - there is ONLY 1 place and that's right here at BradleyFans.com.

:D

absolutely - I enjoy the lively discussions, now that I don't have to worry about the moderating
