Ex-Bradley players playing pro

Btw, Max Ekono transferred to Clarendon College in Texas when he left Bradley midway through last season. He reportedly planned to sit out the last semester of last year, and play this year at Clarendon. However, he is not listed on their 2023-24 roster.

He has transferred to Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa, and is listed on their 2023-24 roster.

DC- I did not intend that as a criticism of not looking up other players status. It was more about how we feel about those that have left. As I said my opinion ( and only mine) is that there are differences - those that stayed a couple and left, those that stayed 4 and left for another school, those that stayed 4+ and left for a pro opportunity. I did not in any way intend that as a criticism of all the work you do.

Thanks, I did not take it as criticism, and I agree with you. I didn't think anyone here cared much about where Davante Cooper might be playing now. :)

The opponent is Itelyum Varese from the Italian Serie A pro league.
ZZ Leiden won 81-77. Luuk finished with a game-high 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3-4 from three. - https://www.eurobasket.com/boxScores/FIBA Europe Cup/2024/0131_1183_88.aspx
Luuk is averaging 15.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, and shooting 43.4% from three in ZZ Leiden's nine Euro Cup games so far.

I miss Luuk. He really became an important part of our team in his last season and his attitude was always great.

Elijah Childs had a great season with Trapani in Italy ...
He is playing this season with MHP Ludwigsburg in the German Basketball Bundesliga....

Elijah Childs' contract was bought out and he now joins MLP Heidelberg in the BBL, and in his first game with them
he went for 23 pts, 10 reb, 4 asst- https://www.eurobasket.com/Basketball-Box-Score.aspx?Game=2024_0204_2457_215-Germany
Unfortunately for him, he goes from a top tier team to one at the bottom if the standings.

Walt Lemon has just completed his 2nd season playing overseas in Asia...
and for the 2nd year in a row, Walt is the MVP, the Finals MVP and also his team won the Championship! Pretty impressive
Walt averaged 20 ppg, 7 apg, 6 rpg and hit 60.2% of his shots.

BW would have made the Sweet 16 if he had Walt Lemon. Guy was unguardable!

BW would have made the Sweet 16 if he had Walt Lemon. Guy was unguardable!

Even though Walt didn't stick long in the NBA, note that his scoring average in 2018-19 was 14.3 ppg and his career scoring average is 9.4 ppg
Of all the 20 or more Bradley players who played in the NBA- only Hersey, Chet Walker and Danny Granger have higher career scoring averages.
Levern Tart & Al Smith played exclusively in the old ABA- never in the NBA, and their scoring averages were 19.4 ppg & 9.8 ppg respectively.

Also, No Bradley player who ever played in the NBA had a higher assist average than Walt (3.2 apg)
although Al Smith (ABA only) did avg 5.8 apg

One more thing- people today have no idea who Levern Tart even was, but what a pure scorer....
His career in the ABA ran from 1968-72 and the old ABA continued on until 1976 and had awesome scorers like Dr. J, Rick Barry, George Gervin, Artis Gilmore, Dan Issel, George McGinnis, etc...
and yet Levern Tart ranks as the 15th highest career scoring average of all the players from the ABA -
and it also still ranks Top 100 all time among all NBA& ABA players.

I remember Lavern Tart. Great Player. He had a label of being called the best one on one man in the country. If you want to know how Tart played project Demarion Burch in a year or 2.

After helping lead his team, ZZ Leiden, to their 2nd league championship in a row and their 3rd in the last 4 seasons since he originally signed with them in 2020, Luuk van Bree just signed with a new team for the upcoming 2024-25 season. He signed a 2-year contract with Den Bosch, the team ZZ Leiden just beat in the 2024 Dutch Basketball League Finals. The Den Bosch team is located in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch, which is much closer (25 mi.) to Luuk's hometown of Helmond, Netherlands. Den Bosch has a long and successful history. They have won 17 Dutch league Championships in their history, more than twice as many as any other team.

I remember Levern Tart. The Braves won the NIT in 1964 (note user name) and my dad took us to the BU campus when the team was welcomed home. I can still remember Tart hoisting the trophy over his head.

Growing up in the Chicago area, the first time I ever heard of Bradley University was when WGN TV news showed short film clip of the Bradley players returning to Peoria from winning the '64 NIT. They were welcomed by a crowd of fans. I was not much of a college basketball fan yet at that time, but I thought it was great to see an Illinois school hoisting a national championship trophy.

Elijah finished up strong last season, and this season he has signed with a new team, Pistoia Basket 2000 in the Italian Serie A league, the highest pro league in Italy. Pistoia is a beautiful city in Tuscany, just outside Florence. - https://x.com/SlanSports/status/1808137913797869711

Former Mount Carmel basketball star Terry Nolan Jr. named boys coach at Rosedale Christian Academy
After assisting at Overlea last season, former All-Metro guard caught coaching bug

Terry Nolan Jr. always set out to make a difference during his playing days on the basketball court, whether at Mount Carmel, his three Division I college teams or brief professional career overseas.
Now 25, he’s looking to do the same in the coaching ranks. He was recently named the new boys coach at Rosedale Christian Academy.
After spending last season as an assistant coach at Overlea, helping the Falcons win their first Baltimore County championship in 32 years, Nolan has lofty goals in his first chance at running a program.
A former All-Metro first-team guard at Mount Carmel, he believes all the experiences he’s gained on the court — playing at George Washington, Bradley and Towson before professional stints in Portugal and Romania — will help him guide the Panthers’ program to new heights. Playing an independent schedule, Rosedale finished with an 8-18 mark last season.
“As far as my hopes and dreams and what I want to accomplish, I want to build a national program,” he said. “I think we have the potential to do that here at Rosedale. It just needs the right person building it.”
Nolan cut short his playing career to return home when his son was born. He joined Will Watts’ staff at Overlea for the 2023-24 season and caught the coaching bug.
“I found I really loved coaching, really loved the fulfillment I had doing it giving back to the kids and pouring in all my experiences,” he said.
In Nolan, Watts saw a level of commitment to coaching that he believes will translate well at Rosedale.
“With a heart full of dedication and a spirit fueled by passion, Coach Terry embodies the essence of selflessness in coaching. He is truly a servant leader, and because of this I know he will succeed over at Rosedale Christian,” he said.
Rosedale athletic director Angela Cuocci saw the same qualities during the hiring process and is excited to have Nolan aboard.
“I think our program is unique in that while we have a focus on wanting to build a winning athletic program, our greater focus as a Christian school is helping our kids develop a relationship with Christ,” she said. “So for us, having someone like Terry, who possesses the skill set to be an amazing coach … and to make a program that is strong, but then also have a love for the Lord and a desire to help young men grow in their relationship with God — that’s what made him the right fit for us.”
Nolan plans to incorporate a blend of what he’s learned from all the coaches he’s played for, but with a priority on playing strong defense.
“First and foremost, it’s going to take some players. We want guys that are high character, willing to work, be disciplined and have gratitude for the game,” he said.
