My feelings about these two tournaments are directly related to the direction of the program. They should never be used to pad win totals for teams with arrows pointing down. However, if a team has overachieved, then I like the idea of using it as a reward.
My feelings stand. I have no problem with any EIEIO tournament, any year we qualify for it, no matter what the direction the team is going. That said, obviously that is not our goal, and we should not be satisfied with it just to make the postseason. But if that's the best we do in a particular season, more games gives the young players experience, and the outgoing players a chance for an encore in front of the fans (assuming we get home games).
Agreed. An EIEIO tourney is fine for a projected last place team that overachieved. It's not great for a projected top 3 team.
If it is a choice between more basketball and the season being over, my choice is more basketball.
Would like to adjust minutes in favor of KDB, JC, and NW in any EIEIO.
Anytime a team can play extra games no matter where it is at is a big plus for everyone
And to have JE take at least one shot in 33 minutes.
That will likely be different in our next couple games.
We NEED Jake to be productive in assists, rebounds, scoring in order to beat the better teams in the Valley.
A guy that's shooting 41% in league games from behind the arc needs to get at least a couple shots off in 30+ minutes.
We are 9-4 in games when Jake has scored 8 or more and 9-4 when he's tallied 14 among pts., rebounds, and assists.
We can win without him, but the production he gives makes us so much better.
Finally, a response. Thanks. I thought I was the only one who was concerned that one of or better shooters went shotless.
