Dyricus To Stay at Bradley!

Oh Shut Up! I don't post alot, but read the board everyday, multiple times a day. I just get sick of reading the "I told you so" threads and the demanding that people apologize. This is a message board after all. It's one of the few places that people came come to and express there immediate emotions, reactions, joys and frustrations. That's what makes message boards unique and is part of their appeal. There have been alot of emotionally charged events over the last few months and people reacted accordingly. Let's just enjoy the positive news and just take the past comments as a way of venting off frustration! Don't take everything so personal or assume its anti-BU!

I completely agree with you. Who are these people telling others what they can say and what they cannot say. Don't say anything...it will go away on it's own!

..I have a problem with posters who...can't even bare to say they are happy ...

-first -- this news isn't like we just gained something....it is simply not news about losing something.
I have to admit I never mentioned that my house didn't burn down yesterday and I didn't lose my wallet, but if the subject comes up then I am definitely happy about it...
and had we lost DSE -- and even the news about him contemplating leaving -- were negatives that hurts BU and potential recruiting -- so there's still some blame to lay on the parties who failed to count the costs of what's happened.......

-but as noted elsewhere -- some of the reasons DSE is staying are directly due to some of the people you are taking shots at...the people who were NOT happy with the "process" who helped step in and enable the changes that appear to be keeping DSE here...
so don't work yourself into too much of a "problem" with the very people who are helping stem the fallout........

Even if we luck out and only lose Sammy, that is a huge loss and he alone makes next year's team a much weaker team.

It is a loss, no doubt. However, I think it could be addition by subtraction.

SM was obviously not dedicated to staying and playing at BU. Whether it was a basketball decision or an educational decision, it does not matter.

What matters is he was not 100% behind Bradley and the program. As a coach, or a teammate, or a fan, I do not think you want anyone is not dedicated to the team and program.

I don't begrudge SM for his decision. Nor do I bemoan the fact he left. In life, everyone has to make tough decisions. SM made his, Bradley made theirs, and fans will make theirs, too. Nothing wrong with that.

Onward and upward!

No, I can't say that I do.

A last place team loses their best player to graduation and lose their team leader to transfer, and now they're poised to make a run at the title?

Still no post pressence.
Is DS starting, because DSE's production will go down at the point.

Who would start on this championship contending team?

Believe what you will, I believe this team can finish as high as 2, more than likely 4 or 5 again. Creighton and Indiana State are the class of the Valley next season. Wichita and Mo. State are both losing a lot of talent this year.

No Post Presence? Ever hear of Jordan Prosser? Egolf is not really a post player, but if Prosser continues to improve and bulk up, I see no reason he can't be, eventually, one of the top post players in the valley. Also, in Geno's system, post players aren't as important. They are still nice to have, but with a running team, you don't NEED them as much.

4 out of 5 starters are pretty much set, provided TB is healthy enough to play. In my opinion, here is what we are looking at.

DSE, TB, WE, and JP will all start. The 5th starter will either be WL, DS, JE, or a long shot Remy (if he comes, of course).

I don't think we can win the valley next season, but there is no reason to expect this team to finish in last again. I will be surprised if they play on Thursday in the MVC tournament again.

I guess thank yous are in order.

some people don't ask for "thank you's".... but when they don't all deserve criticism -- then it should be pointed out...

I'm glad you didn't 'jump ship' as you threatened...the program may have crumbled without you...

as 45otseoj just pointed out...some might say that it IS crumbling.....
...coming off last place, losing our head coach and three assistants and others in the Athletic Department
whose names have yet to appear in the press, then losing our best player (AW),
and another 5th year senior that was a solid team leader and contributor and will be very hard to replace (Dodie),
plus losing our best returning guy (Sammy), then potentially also losing our best talent to a health issue (TB)
and our best returning scorer to transfer (DSE)..as well as maybe losing our two best incoming players (SH & RA)...
and then the possiblity of the loss of significant fan & donor support...and an admin that wants to do exactly as you railed against
and move a significant number of games to the campus arena and make seat selection very exclusive and based on contribs....
(which if the attendance drops to 6000 you can bet will happen for many of those games)
and you're giggling and making jokes about it all.....seems you love pain.......

In the meantime -- the admin & athletic department are vigorously reaching out to BU's fans and hoping they all stay "on board" and
NOT do as you seem to be encouraging people do ...to "jump ship"....so it seems you are working directly counter to the efforts of the admin & athletic department!!

I like the way you think.

Maybe we should lift less weights this summer so the muscles are less tight with those 2-5 foot shots near the basket and concentrate more on conditioning.

:)

Yes or no question - Is the iceberg dead ahead?

You are exactly right...WE DIDN'T LOSE ANYTHING like some were shouting from the rooftops that we would.

So news about a player weighing their options and still choosing BU, hurts BU? If anything I think it speaks volumes about the coach we brought in.

I'm trying to contemplate what a fan could do or say to me that would have this much sway? If I'm really as hacked off about the coaching change as some here would have you believe...not much.

If I'm a player, there are three things that top my list - am I going to have a scholarship, am I going to get the playing time I want, and is the situation one that will allow my team to win some games.

I can't think of anything a fan could do or say to change ANY of those things.

Good assessment, ChiBear. Top 3 is not unreasonable - of course, we've never seen Geno and how he works with the guys. I am thinking 4th-5th next season is the safe pick.
I expect him and his staff to be able to work with the bigs. I can't imagine starting 3 bigs!!! That would be awesome!

I would venture to say that DS will start as a freshman, if he is indeed our best PG. DSE didn't impress me at PG last season. Jake actually did.

If there is ever a season where we could possibly steal an MVC championship, it's next season. The top team seems weaker than we've seen in several years. If Indiana St. is the favorite, then there are about 5 teams that can take the title. And maybe I'm missing something, but Creighton does not seem deep at all next season - maybe some decent recruits coming in?
