Discouraged to say the least

I would rather give Geno a couple more years than going back to the day we knew before the season started we would end up 4th in the MVC.

The whole thing....basketball program and the athletic program is going downhill Fast. The President, trustees, M. Cross, and Geno have not been able to turn this around. They won,t listen to fans or alums and keep making bad decisions that further hurt BU programs.
Our only hope seems to be if the few remaining fans can somehow rise up and public ally demand changes.
The alternative is to go Divn II, cut back coaches & coaches big salaries, and play a Divn. II schedule in the RC. The Bradley of old may very well be history thanks to Joann and the disinterested trustees.

WOW, even you don't believe any of this! You are not a Bradley fan. You are a fan of a memory, one that is not an accurate portrayal of reality. "And Geno have not been able to turn it around." - A, that means you know the program was in the shitter and needed turned around, and B, 18 WINS in YEAR 2 - GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! STOP BEING A MESSAGE BOARD HENNY PENNY!!!

we are going to some luck... not saying the S16 was lucky... but we are going to have to over achieve a bit with who we have to become players in the recruiting game.... this means we need tough kids a tough coach and a fanbase that hangs on :/

discouraged to say the least

discouraged to say the least

Maybe it's just losing another recruit but there are just too many things to be discouraged about with the Bradley basketball program.
1. Recruiting- I really thought we could turn the corner but once again we lose out on all of our top targets for whatever reasons. The bottom line is you have to close the deal out. Period. Tired of hoping to get a big time recruit but the way it's set up its just not in the cards. We will always be recruiting bottom feeders. 2. Landscape- with all the conference re-alignment going on the best the MVC can do is get Loyola. All you need to know is what CBS did during the MVC finals. If Wichita ever moves on the MVC will barely be a mid major conference. 3. Scheduling- not much to be excited about there either. Home schedule looks awful for next year. 4. Fan support- it looks like a nursing home during home games and now with the massive increase in season tickets the administration has made it worse. Just wonder who will fill those seats in 10 years when a large portion of our season ticket base is gone. I have been a supporter of Bradley basketball for 40 years and basically stopped going at the end of the Jim Les era. I think Geno is a good coach but there is not much to get excited about these days. Losing Delaney, Tucker and Hamilton puts a huge damper on my enthusiasm for next year. Someone talk me off this ledge. Discouraged.
You shouldn't be discouraged. The two new players who transferred last year are ready to play, and the two players who transferred out were marginal at best. This could be an excellent year for Geno. And you do understand that he knows he has to coach the kids up that he has for this year. I'm looking for better things this year than last.

Boy,haven't posted on here for a couple of days. Sure is dead and half of what's posted sounds like someone died. Traveler I'm with you can't understand why all the gloom and doom comes from, it's only May. If this was a Cub message board I could understand but the way I see it we are far better next year than we've been the 3 and that's not counting on any more recruits. Hopefully Greene and Henry. I just don't get all the negativity on this board. We need to get and stay behind Geno and these kids 100% but a certain faction seems to not wanna. Don't get it myself. I know some are worried about attendance and rightly so but when we start winning that will take care of itself. It will be interesting to see if the ticket increase will lower attendance but lets wait and see before we hang the guilty with words.

Don't see anybody knocking Geno or the kids.

..are still having the same conversation.

some, if it is relevant - but message boards can be a good source for up to the instant news and new info and discussion...
Most of the new stories and breaking info on Bradley basketball, BU, and the Valley is right here being discussed on BradleyFans before it shows up anywhere locally in the newspaper or anywhere else.

..also like the conversation in the office, on the street, and also a little bit like knowing a bunch of people who get inside info - since surely you noticed all the threads about..

-the multiple new players here, at ISU, new teams coming into the Valley, etc..and the players like Shayok who have left
-changes at BU - new marketing firms, news on scheduing, tournaments, even hirings & firings
-and many other topics - that were unknown 6 months ago - so it's hard to understand what you mean when you say it's the same conversation from 6 months ago?

so you think the 30-40% tanking of our home attendance is a mirage or due to 3000 people listening to the wrong advice?
Personally I'd have to think those 3000 see what perhaps you choose not to

and...

you were part of the +&+&@%$^&^%% doom & gloom for several years until you got your way...now it's everyone else's fault?

I was a supporter of the previous staff until the final 2-3 seasons.... 9 years without a MVC Conference or Tournament Championship, or top 3 finish, seemed to me to be a good reason to try something new. Clearly the team was lost in the final act.

Now, I am a 'half inflated' basketball kind of person, and, I sense you are a 'half deflated' kind of basketball person, with a healthy dose of passive aggressive thrown in.

You were willing to overlook 3 full seasons of cra* at the start of the JL era, one year removed from a 2nd place MVC season and the NIT with possibly the best recruiting class in BU history under the previous coach, and now proclaim the program is toast after coming off a huge 2nd year turnaround, and a roster that is starting to look like a D-1 program again?

For some reason, I feel this thrill going up my leg every time I read your posts trying to convince others BU would have returned to prominence the past two seasons if there had been "(No) Change"...

I second your entire post and to make a long story short,Chico this is exactly what I was referring to in my last post that you didn't understand.

I fully understand. Just don't see anyone knocking Geno or especially the kids.
Your not reading certain posters or reading between their lines. Alot of us on here realize whats going on surprised you've missed it. You usually don't miss much.

I realize their are posters who were upset when the previous coach was let go, me included. But I still don't see much anti Geno or the kids personally. People complain after a change in coaches all the time. I remember when DV took over a program that had an overall below .500 record in the MVC and had 14-14 record with all 5 starters returning the year before. He wasn't cut much slack from the diehards backing the previous coach. I know many who wanted him to fail. I don't see that in Geno's situation. For the record, I'm behind Geno and the kids 100%

Me to, I'm 100% behind Geno and the kids. I'm pretty sure you and I agree letting Tricky Dick go was one of the dumbest things BU has ever done . I'll also add dropping the P.E. program not the smartest thing we've ever done.
