DeAaron Williams

DeAaron is getting more consistent and better all the time.
In ICC's game this weekend, an 81-63 win over Spoon River,
DeAaron had 21 points (8-15 from the floor, 1-2 from 3-pt, 4-5 from the FT line), 7 rebounds and dominated whenever he was on the floor, often dishing off to help his teammates score.
One observer stated he has some moves like DWade and will certainly be able to help with scoring at the D-I level.

ICC is 25-3 overall and 12-2 in conference.
DeAaron averages 17ppg, shoots 50% overall, 76% from the FT line,
and adds over 5 rpg - good for 2nd best behind Billy Baptist's 7rpg.
He also adds a couple assists per game.

I hope he can keep his head on straight and realize his potential at BU.

I agree, I don't think theres any question he can be a great player in the MVC. The question, to me at least, is if he can stay away from trouble and keep his grades up. That being said, I do think his continued progress and determinaton can be taken as a good sign.

I was at the Spoon River game and let me tell you DW was the laziest kid on the floor. He did not run up and down the floor he walked and did not play defense what so ever if I was the coach he would have been on the bench. He acts like he doesn't want to be there at all.

Would you want to be at ICC?

I'd want to be at ICC if I was waiting to be at Bradley next year. He could have been at BU 2 years ago.

If I didn't want to be at ICC I wouldn't be at ICC let a lone go out and hurt the team by being lazy. That is showing no respect for your coach and team mates.

well if he still put up 21 pts and pulled down 7 rebounds while also being the laziest looking player on the floor, maybe its just he is bored/unchallenged.

Youre probably just trying to be funny, but let me tell you ICC is a fine Junior Collee and a place that gave Mr Williams the opportunity he has in front of him. In addition to that Coach Y has built a very nice program that is a perenial national contender. So whether or not he wants to be there, he is lucky to be there. I have seen him play and while his number might give the indication that he is geting better, he is not putting in the time and does not have the attitiude of a kid that is fighting to get to the next level. If he makes it to BU, he's in for a rude awakening

I have never seen Williams play and do not know him from Adam, but if he sounds like a player who might not exactly buy into the "team" environment JL is installing at BU.

If you get DeAaron in the right environment, playing with his friends, being coached by Jim and Chuck Buescher, I think he will finally show himself to be the superstar that he can be.

T, I hope you are right because one of the things that has helped BU over the last year improve is the way the kids get along. I hope DW can come in and keep it together and be part of the team. If so I agree he could take off and be a big factor for the next two years.

Mex-- I don't know a lot of the details of what's going on at ICC,
but here's what I have heard from some people who are close to the situation...

First, the ICC game plan is uptempo and sometimes a little chaotic, and so DeAaron does occasionally look a little undisciplined, but note that he is NOT shooting many threes, he stays within his range, gets a lot of buckets by beating people to the hoop, and even gets a few assists.
The ICC offense has a couple pretty darned good point guards, and yet DeAaron's assist numbers aren't bad by comparison...

Jeff Wires- 3.6 assists
Wendell Mardis- 3.2 assists
Tad Sterling- 2.6 assists
DeAaron Williams- 2.2 assists

I have heard that he is a good student and doing OK with his classes, and most of all, he is getting along very well with coach and teammates, and the only pubicized issue (a 3 game suspension) was because of missing practice, and DeAaron accepted the discipline well, and he actually been playing well since he came back from the suspension.

If you have never watched him play, then it is hard to convince you, but I have seen him over a dozen times including back in high school, and he is a tremendously exciting and explosive player who can change games in a flash with steals, breakaways, good defense, and the ability to score.

He is rated as one of the Top 20 (#19) juco players in the nation, and every one of those ranked ahead of him that's committed to a four year school, is going to a BCS school, so BU has the highest rated guy who is going mid-major.

Everyone's points may be mute if he doesn't finish his classes successfully this spring and summer. That is the real concern.

All true, but as I stated he is in for a rude awakening if he makes it to BU. And a rude awakening is exactly what he needs, and if he does buy in then look out....but it will require an entire paradme shift like he has never been subjected to. If anyone can get him to abide its JL and CB...but I am skeptical at best.

No, mute is fine as they will be silent and go no further. Moot (meaning doubtful, unresolved, disputable) would not fit this situation. Where were you during my 4 years of graduate school to proof read my papers?[/b]
