Of course anything could happen, and accept that this is quite speculative.......
but BU's next 3 games are winnable...
Home games vs. Indiana State and Missouri State, and a road game at Evansville.
If BU wins all three, then we will be headed into Normal on 2/09 with a conference record of 7-5.
If ISU struggles a bit in their next 3 games....all tough ones, vs. Drake and AT Missouri State and AT Northern Iowa, they could well be heading into the showdown with BU sitting at 8-4 or 7-5.
Then the battle on Feb. 9 could be between BU and ISU for sole possession of 2nd place in the Valley....depending a bit on what SIU and Creighton (they have to play at Drake)

I think we should be rooting for ISU to win those games (especially UNI and MSU) so we can separate ourselves from the Thursday night crew. Plus, ISU continuing to win would give BU another top 50 win after we win in Normal.
Don't forget that complicated tiebreaker system in the MVC. With the race as tight as it is, Bradley needs to rack up those tiebreaker points. So it will benefit BU if ISU and Drake keep winning, and hopefully we can beat them.
For those that didn't see it, here it the MVC tiebreaker system. It is based on points awarded for each win. The points go up for wins against teams higher in the standings, and extra points are awarded for road wins.

Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament Tiebreaker
Regular-season standings are the determining factor in setting first-round pairings for the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The tie-breaking system for seeding of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, regardless of whether a tie involves two or more teams, will utilize the following factors, in order, until all ties are broken.
Two-way Ties
Records in head-to-head competition are compared, with the higher seed going to the team that has won the most games against the other.
If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken by a power-rating system, using league games. The team among the tying institutions with the better point total will receive the higher seed.
In the event the tie cannot be broken, the seeding shall be determined by a coin toss.
Multiple Ties
If three or more teams are tied, regular-season competition among the tied schools shall be pooled into a "mini round-robin." Teams shall be ranked according to their position in such a round- robin.
In the event this process does not solve the multiple ties, the deadlock will be broken by a power-rating system, using league games. The team among the tying institutions with the better point total will receive the higher seed.
In the event this process does not resolve the ties, a coin toss will be the final alternative.
