Daniel Ruffin to play for San Antonio Spurs Summer League team

Congrats Ruff!

Hey - while you are in San Antonio, go to Rudy's and get the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of Cream-o-Corn. Once you get to a table, Load up some of the sauce on your sandwich - great flavor and fire! Trust me! You'll wanna thank me later for the restaraunt tip. ;)

Tolliver and Tatum are on the Spurs' summer league team as well. That's a great statement for the Valley right there! Perhaps the best-run NBA team has 3 former Valley members on their summer-league roster--that says something about the quality of players the Valley develops.

Congrats to DR, if Aaron Brooks can play in the NBA so can you.

BTW PJ Couisnard was on the Bulls Summer League roster in Orlando.

neat-o for ruff but i still think the best pro that could come out of bu since ap is cellus.... anyone know if he might be making a roster this year?

It would appear that NBATV, which I didn't even know I had, broadcasts at least some of these games as there's one between Clippers and Mavs on right now. Channel 514 on Comcast in P-town.

If for some reason he does not make their NBA team the Spurs have a great reputation with their development team. He would also be practicing up against Parker which will only make him better. I guess the next news will be Cellus making a team.

I don't find it a coincidence that it's the Spurs that have all these guys on their roster. The Spurs do one heckuva job as an organization of evaluating talent; they've been really successful with their foreign players, I don't see why it should be any different with guys that might be overlooked outta college.

Here's the schedule on-line:

I think all games are available webcasted on nba.com. Potentially, we might get to see Ruff play tomorrow night when the Spurs play the Grizzlies @ 10:30 p.m. eastern.

Would Cellus go this route though? He's done the summer league thing, and the development team probably doesn't pay as much as his euro team (not sure).

I assume if Cellus makes it to a NBA team, he'd want to just get picked-up as a free agent or something out of the Euro leagues like Anthony Parker. And that may not happen until a few more years. Anthony Parker was a superstar in Europe before getting re-signed to a NBA team.
