... because of an editorial the managing editor wrote after he witnessed three athletes (they weren't described as football players) complain about showing their student IDs before woking out.

I enjoyed this quote from the coach:
"This is [expletive deleted] bull****," Leipold said. "It's going to be a ***** to try to cover football next season."

so are you saying newspapers should be free to say and do as they want, or are the rest of the people, like the coach, also free to do the same?
 
Let's just say that the coach is a real hot head and probably has a large ego to let a student newspaper get to him. Shame on him and I hope the school's administration calls him on his pettiness.
 
It was the right thing to do! I'll give him credit for his apologies and now he can take his reprimand hopefully without any media coverage from here on out.
