CUBS close to deals.....

I would give Schilling a tryout and if he pitched well, I would go after him aggressively.

Schilling. he's a gamer but his best days have been behind him for the last two years. I'm not sure how he would help the Cubs??? He can also be a huge distraction! He has a huge mouth.

Understand SFP... I am not expecting a 20 game winner. The reason I think the Cubs should go after him is that he is a gamer with World Series experience. and... a team can not have enough pitching....

Has anybody heard of Estaban German(released by the royals) before....the cubs signed him to try out as a back-up infielder?

Yes, being a White Sox fan, I am familiar with him, and have seen him play for the Royals against the White Sox many times.
He just turned 31 years old. He has played for 3 AL teams, Oakland, Texas, and KC.
In his first full season with KC in 2006, he hit .326 in 106 games. But then he fell off to .264 in 2007, and only .245 in 2008. He is a singles hitter, with very little power (only 7 career HR in 946 ABs). He's a pretty good fielder, and is capable of playing every infield position, or outfield position.
