Connor Hickman enters portal

Feel bad for Hick. You would think Drew would be decent enough to tell him how many studs are in front of him in the rotation. Why leave to get 10 minutes a game? Cincy’s guards torched him and BU in the NIT game. They’re on a different level and they’re all still there. Maybe I’m missing something.

Only guy that showed up to play that day was Malevy. Everyone else looked like they didn't even want to be there.

I wonder if Indiana didn't offer him. I mean, what kid grows up in Bloomington dreaming of someday playing in Cincinnati?

Obviously Indiana did not offer him a good deal, appears he is willing to play for CINCY and does not care about starting his last season. This is looking more like he was not happy here last season for whatever reason. I do know Adams recruited him to Bradley . Very puzzling decision.

I think the Washington St kid committing to IU threw a huge wrench in the whole thing for Hickman. Seems like Cincy was the fall back plan. Looks like the guy in the trenchcoat got him at halftime after all.

I believe DC said that this was not the case. Moreso Hick wanted to go the Maniscalco route and compete at a P5 level. With Adams there, I always assumed he would go there. I agree however that he's going to have to fight for playing time.

You are right. He was not unhappy with Bradley and had no issues with the coaches. And he was fiends with the other players and was well liked. Indiana was never his top choice. Nor was the fact his girlfriend is a student at IU a factor. He did not like Mike Woodson's offense. One of his best friends, Anthony Leal, will be in his final season there next year, and that might have been a reason he visited, but it apparently didn't change his mind.

You transfer to a school that you won’t start is puzzling to everyone. You leave a team that’s on the verge of the NCAA tournament bid. Hopefully he gets what he wants and it wasn’t a fall back plan. Grass may look greener but doesn’t always make you happier.

Wish nothing but the best for Hickman. Let’s hope he plays well at Cincinnati. Gets a NIL bump for sure. No ill will at all

That is my take as well. Cincinnati has some really good guards already as we saw in the NIT game.

He'll play but he'll be competing for a starting spot. Might be quite the difference from Bradley where he was a guaranteed starter and basically had a green light to shoot.

Anyone else see the reshare by Burch of Hickman announcing Cincy? By the time I clicked into it, it has disappeared. I won't summarize it because I don't exactly recall what it said but it was very unfriendly. Seemed like he was very upset/hurt that Hickman left. I'm sure Coach made him take it down. Maybe someone else has some insight.

I think we forget that these guys get real close and it's hard for them all as well to lose their friends. This response wasn't exactly excusable, but it's clear he felt hurt and/or betrayed.

That's a good point. We know how us as fans feel so you can imagine how their teammates feel when someone leaves. Its hard to say 'Once a brave, always a brave' anymore with the way things are with players can just leave year after year.

Are you referring to the twitter account that bills itself as a Demarion Burch "burner" account? Some posts that sound like you have described came from that account and are still up, but it clearly is not Burch. In fact, it formerly hailed itself as a Hickman burner account before he left.
