I doubt Chicago State has won many season openers, but they beat St. Bonaventure in Austin, Texas. They play at Wichita State next Tuesday --

--In one local exhibition game Thursday night, Northern Illinois knocked off St. Francis (IL) 77-47.


--In Chicago State's win, David Holston scored 43 points! Many remember Holston as the player on Chicago State a couple years ago who did give BU some fits.


--Promising Wisconsin freshman JP Gavinski, played only 11 minutes total in the two exhibition games, and has decided he will redshirt this year.


--University of Missouri has not done what Kansas State has to interest new ticket buyers for this upcoming season.
Whereas K-State is at an all time high in season tickets sold (over 13,000), Mizzou has dropped again for the 4th year in a row and are at a 25 year low. There are so far 7,800 season tix sold at Mizzou but it is suspected many of those are people who have held on to theirs but will still NOT SHOW until the team begins to display success, so they are still worried about low turnout.
Their two exhibition games thus far (which were opart of the season ticket package) had 4,212 and 5,626 in attendance.
Comparison--Creighton had 13,861 fans on hand for its exhibition win over Nebraska-Omaha.


--freshman Kevin Durant scored 20 points in the Texas win over Alcorn State.

Im wondering if anyone has seen either Cole and Tisdale play and if Fay is better then either? From what I read on here it seems Fay is much better and more ready to play then either U of I recruits.

I have seen Bill Cole play perhaps 10-12 times in the last year or so, and have seen Carlton Fay almost as much, but have never seen Tisdale.
Bill Cole is very thin which brings about the talk of him not being ready for Big Ten play. But don't let that make you think he can't play. He is a good defender, and a very good shooter all the way beyond the 3-pt line. He can also put the ball on the floor and is a good passer. Cole plays center and forward in high school, but with Tisdale and Carlwell at Center, Cole will likely play a forward at U of I.
Carlton Fay is not as tall as Cole but is muscular and strong, he can also shoot well from outside, but doesn't put the ball on the floor as well. Fay plays center in high school but may be a SF or PF in college.
Fay is a lot like Matt Shaw, but I am not sure SIU will play them both on the floor at once, but Lowery often goes with a lineup without a center, so who knows.

From Friday night, there were a few notes about some local players...

--In Wisconsin-Milwaukee's 72-60 win over Radford, IVC's Ryan Thornton got 5 pts. in just 5 minutes.
--ex-BU recruit Willie Veasley, who chose Butler played 22 minutes and was scoreless.
--Josh Tabb had 13 points for Tennessee
--Marquette did not live up to their #17 ranking as they trailed Hillsdale at the half 36-32 but pulled out a 76-66 win.
--Mike Rembert had 12 pts, 4 rebs in SEMO's 92-52 loss to Arkansas. Patrick Beverley (freshman from Chicago Marshall) had 29 pts on 11-13, 6-7 from 3-pt.

--And in SIU's win over Washington, both teams shot poorly, but Washington U. was only 8-43 in the game, and 3-21 from 3-pt.
